My moto z2 force is still puttering along. Nice to see it's still a good phone.
Ditto, as an owner of a Moto Z3 (same innards). Love this phone with its mods.

This phone comes with Android 10. Based on Motorola software update policy, this phone will have one major upgrade to Android 11 and 2 years security update.

Is it pretty much software update that we can expect on this phone? Motorola has promised but failed to deliver on the updates - so don't expect this phone to get to Android 12. If this is the case, then this phone is not a good buy at all.

Maybe I should find a Z3 deal. I love my Z2 Force. Moto/Lenovo really spoiled us with these specs, especially for $99. Performance/spec wise the Z2 Force is better than any cheap phones available now.

If I could just get the dang bootloader unlocked for lineage, I wouldn't even be tempted to upgrade it.

Don't listen to the other people who are commenting and don't even own the phone. Take it from me - I've had it since launch. I'll try to be as objective as possible.

The way you want to look at it is, don't think of it as a flagship. Think of this as a mid-range to upper mid-range phone. For ~$400, you get a lot of phone for not a lot of money. It also uses a lot of the latest tech/trends if you're into that. Some people suffered from the green tint. I was worried about mine when I got it, but I've never had this problem. I also got one for my mother, who also has not had any problems with it. There are no issues with the curved display that I've encountered so far. Like someone else mentioned, the only inconvenience is that this phone is very tall. It will slip out of your pocket more than you'd like. But I can also say that even though I've dropped it many times (not very high, maybe a few feet from the ground), it has not failed, nor has it cracked. I wish they stuck with a traditional fingerprint reader - the in-screen fingerprint reader can be quite slow sometimes.

I wish that Motorola would stand behind their products and offer more updates and a clear update schedule. I think this is the biggest drawback, especially if you don't tinker with phones and just leave it stock. However, if you like to root and install custom roms, this phone has an official lineageOS 17.1, which will hopefully keep the phone relatively up-to-date as the years go by. Related to the software, I have T-Mobile, which has stand-alone 5g. Although this phone supports 5g, it currently does not support SA 5G. I believe this phone is capable of it, but just needs to be unlocked from the software side, which like I said, is lacking.

So in summary - overall a fantastic phone and it's great to use, although there are a few inconveniences that can easily be overlooked. However, I worry about limited updates from Motorola
So this phone supports all tmobile 5g bands? What is SA 5G?

Doesn't this phone have some kind of virtual "bumper" buttons for gaming or am I thinking of something else?

Would be curious to know how they function during actual usage if that's the correct phone.

I find this kind of annoying as well, although I don't find myself in areas any more where I ever don't have service so I guess it's really not that important in the grand scheme of things anymore. It seems like the cell coverage has gotten good enough in most populated areas where you would have WIFI anyways to render this a non-factor.

I need to start thinking about a new phone sometime soon. Still using an AT&T LG V20 on Cricket with Lineage OS 17.1. It runs like twice as fast on Lineage as it did on the stock-based ROMs, but Lineage doesn't support VOLTE, so when they kill 3G in like 8 or 9 months it's going to be real painful to have to deal with the sudden massive performance drop when switching back to a stock-based ROM in order to retain usability of the device as an actual phone.
Any plans for the developers to add VOLTE support to Lineage or is it impossible? Also, does Wifi calling work with that ROM?

FYI.

I bought this phone shortly after it was launched on Bestbuy and it was on Slickdeals too. $350 after activating it with Verizon. I had bought 2 of these phones.

Anyways, come last November, I did have to send the phone in for replacement to Motorola as I was experiencing screen problems as mentioned by other reviewers. They were easy to get hold of, the RMA process was pretty easy.
The replacement phone even came with a new screen protector from Motorola. My phone has been good after replacement and the other phone never had a problem to begin with.

Hope that helps.

Exactly. This phone shouldn't be priced any higher than the OnePlus 7T which has more RAM and better benchmark scores. Moto build quality is awful. Their phones literlaly fall apart in your hand.

I love the Moto Z2 Force too and I would say that it was the best bang for the buck phone deal that I ever got especially since it had an 835 chip. However you should definitely consider the Moto G Stylus (2020) that is on a good sale. I love the Moto G Stylus and I paid $118 total after tax and rebate for it unlocked at Best Buy on November 21st 2020. I use a Samsung Galaxy A71 5G with the 765G chip and a Motorola G Stylus and I actually prefer the user interface, fingerprint sensor and the speakers of the Stylus. Both are very good phones for their great sale prices..... When you go from a Moto Z2 Force with android 9 (pie) to Moto G Stylus with android 10, it felt so much like my Pixel 3a that I traded in for my Samsung Galaxy A71 5G.

Seems really backwards...there are plenty of flat phones. Idk why you're complaining about curved screens when the target market excludes you. Simply buy a regular phone.

A lot of younger people like me are into the design, and so companies offer it. That's all.
It was a fad which thankfully is on its way out. It's a useless feature which only makes the screen easier to crack. Put a typical screen protector on one and then you have the edge of the screen protector a quarter of an inch from the edges. Looks like ass plus it doesn't feel good when you slide your finger over it. Sure they make some curved screen protectors but they get expensive and are a bitch to apply. People that say they like curved screens sound inexperienced to be honest. There's not much to like about them. And it seems to take away from the screen size (the edges aren't usable). Might as well get a phone with a large bezel all the way around LOL.

Motorola has better reception with reception signal but also with wifi. My Samsung doesn't lose reception wifi reception once connected but my Motorola recognizes more wifi signals around me. The antenna must be stronger. For some odd reason I can get an Optimum wifi signal at my house with my Motorola but I can't get that same Optimum wifi signal with my Samsung. Very odd.... When I go outside to other areas with Optimum wifi signal, my Samsung can find and use Optimum though.
I've had the opposite experience with Moto phones when it comes to reception and it's caused me to sell all mine. Had them all since the original Motorola E-815 and the Moto G5 was the last Moto that had a strong antenna. I've done extensive testing since I spend so much time in At&t and Verizon fringe areas. You can really tell the difference when you're a sim swapper like me. I just grabbed a G8 Power and a Stylus to test and they both have terrible antennas compared to my S9+ and Huawei phones. All that said, most people will never know how bad Moto's reception has become because they just assume it's their chosen carriers weak signal. A phones antenna design can make a huge difference in weak signal areas.

I am in NY (Long Island) so I have really solid reception overall with RedPocket AT&T. With my unlocked (t-mobile) Samsung Galaxy A71 5G phone using RedPocket AT&T, I had some people say that they sent me a text message but I never received it in the very beginning when I had the phone. Now the phone works perfectly fine and I always get my messages. Maybe the phone has been updated and been ironed out. It wasn't even a 5G thing because I turned off 5G in order to save battery life.... I still definitely do show up more wifi signals with the Motorola phone. When connected to wifi with Samsung, it never disconnects as it has a strong connection. Bluetooth is very strong as well when connected.
