I know it's hip to hate on Monopoly but even though I've gotten sucked into the Eurogames world myself, I still have a soft spot for this game. It's like any old PC game or console game, it has flaws but it also has character.

Also, it costs like 1/5 of a game like Catan, so for 1/5 of the price I think it's a solid value.

Good question ... I don't think anyone knows. Yes, it has newer tokens (compared to the much older ones I suppose), but where would you even find those much older ones in new condition? At the same time, once they give this game an overhaul this fall and they sell out of their remaining inventory, it will be difficult to find one with the original cards for a good price.

For this price, I went ahead and bought two. One to play and one to keep closed. Who knows how much of a collectors item this will become over the years, especially in a new/sealed condition!?

The only version of Monopoly I'll play is Monopoly Gamer (the Mario themed one) only because it changes the core mechanics of Monopoly so much it really doesn't even feel like boring old Monopoly anymore.
