and the old version was only $3.29 so how is this a deal. Not a particularly bright light, not sure why the reflector design is made to look larger than the smaller reflector inside either.

Looks like it's $1.87 lower than the lowest price a month ago according to CCC.

Reported as 80 lumens. On the lower side these days, but it's also $5 and the floating aspect, might work for your needs if that's important to you. It'll be bright to you if you are used to bulb flashlights from decades ago. You can get much brighter, smaller, and waterproof (not floating) flashlights for a bit more.

Just curious, what uses do you guys have for a floating flashlight? (Aside from emergency prep)

Floating works well on a Boat but I need a floater that makes the lake glow! Haha

Kayaking in the dark. Need front and rear lights and no need to worry if they fall in the water. Have a few 360 degree lights as well. But the more I light up my kayak the less likely a boat runs me over. Cheap enough for that use case.

I hate when I have a glowing floater..... It's tough to conceal!

I bought 2 of these about a year ago even cheaper. These lantern type lights are nothing like the old days. I wouldn't waste the few bucks on them. Led flashlights blow these away for a dollar more.

I picked up a few of these on the last Frontpage deal in 2019 when they were $3.30/each.

I stored 2 in my earthquake kit, 1 in my bathroom for blackouts and gave two more away.

I actually like these old style lights. No, not the 'Rod of the Sun Lord' bright, but good enough to light a room for several days in a natural/man made disaster.

I have one even paired when some rechargeable Eneloops and a "AA" to "D" adapter.

Ah yes, typical chineiusm garbage led light.

Save yourself the wasted time and just get an incan/xenon 3-4 cell D maglite.
