No, 48 is always priced at or higher than the 55 because it's more in demand (monitor tax). I'd watch out for these microcenter refurbished LG tvs though. They go through a 3rd party not LG

The manufacturing process is less efficient with the 48" models. Don't remember the exact reason just that it has to do with how the panels are cut.

For what it's worth, mine came in a generic brown box and didn't say it was refurbished by another company. It seemed like an LG refurb. It just sucks though because mine died like 40 days after I got it as I stated earlier in the thread... so if you do go for it just buy the extended warranty.​

I contacted LG to see if they would fix it for me... I'll update the thread if they do. Otherwise, I'll need to bring it back to the store for exchange/store credit.

No I looked up the UPC at the GS1 website and it is registered to "Ernest F. Bailey Inc.". So it looks like this is third party refurbished. I think these are just going to be repackaged returns to retail stores so YMMV on the quality.

So the company wants customer to pay more for their inefficient manufacturing process vs keeping reinventing process to bring cost down...

It has to do with the volume of panels that are made
If the public starting buying a bunch of 48" models then the manufacturing efficiency would go up

The other option is to just not offer a size that they cant be optimally efficient making...and tell the people to buy what they offer regardless if they have a need for something else

If they need volume to drive efficiency why keeping the price high on the first place vs now it's priced high so lower volumes and hence higher prices situation...
Don't get me wrong, I love LG OLEDs. I'm just wondering as a customer why would I need to worry about LG internal issues and pricing (only valid since 55" is priced less than 48")

It's about driving business to the larger, more profitable models. Most businesses aren't going to subsidize their own losses unless there is something in it for them down the line. People using small TV's as monitors hurts their TV profits and cannibalizes monitor sales.

Okay, thanks. Apparently some of the C9 refurbs last year were factory replacement models which could be registered for an actual LG warranty. If these are third-party they are only as good as open-box.

Because they dont want to sell them at a loss

Its really about the same with 48"/49"/50" LCD's versus their 55" counterparts
They are about the same price typically...but if your space cant fit a 55"( which is my situation) you either buy the smaller size orhave nothing

It's cut using the same panel as the 77 inch model. I forgot I read that the other day. Shame I would be all over it right now for $800 or so. Just can't pay 1000 for such a tiny refurbished screen when I have a 55 incher just a few feet away.

Edit; Sohnen Enterprises did the refurb in the case of my 55".
Damn, might have to pass. They used to do LG refurbs. Stinks that it's from someone else now.
