That is going to be fairly typical of any gaming laptop next to a comparably priced non gaming one. You sacrifice color accuracy and brightness for refresh rate and response time.
The screen seems pretty dim and washed out.
Should I get this or wait?

Yeah I've got the e490s with a Lenovo 250 nit screen. It's too dark to see well on the porch/outside at times. Really the only "should I have gotten this model?" letdown for my ThinkPad.
Which is to say I think you're likely spot on with this critique. Not saying it's a dealbreaker. Just something to keep in mind if you value brightness.

If you need something now, this is a good budget system with the Ryzen 5 4600H. Purchased the similar Gateway system for my wife. It's ok, but I definitely trust Lenovo more.
Prices on dGPU laptops are all over the place these days. 😒

Bet you can't find a laptop with same specs for the same price. I doubt you could even find one with a 60hz screen
