To uninstall many junk apps preloaded by Samsung:
- Download, install, and launch the Minimal ADB and Fast Boot tool on your PC.
- Download, install, and launch the App Inspector app on the phone.
- On your phone, go to Settings and tap on About Phone. Find the Build Number and tap on it 7 times to enable Developer Options.
- Enter Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.
- Connect the phone to the PC via the supplied USB cable.
- Change to "file transfer (MTP)" mode at the phone.
- You will see a prompt on your phone asking you to authorize a connection with the computer. Grant it.
- Enter the command "adb devices" (no ") at the command prompt (PC screen).
- Enter the command "adb shell" if you see the serial number of the phone displayed. If not, then remove/reconnect the USB cable, grant connection, and retype the "adb devices" command.
- Enter pm uninstall -k --user 0 <name of package> for the app that you want to uninstall as displayed in App Inspector.
For Example, to remove youtube: pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.youtube
To restore youtube: cmd package install-existing com.google.android.youtube

Hopefully costco would give the cash deal. I hate the 24 months bill credit. Anybody know if my iPhone 11 has couple months to go, it would lose the bill credit if I pay it off early

I know you won't want to hear this, but this is a local store issue, not a T-Mobile issue. I've had similar issues with grimey store associates too. They once refused to sell me a new iPhone unless I bought one of their overpriced accessories packages. I complain to corporate every single time something like that happens, but it's unlikely to ever really work. They make too much money scamming people so they're unlikely to ever stop trying.

To this day I hate walking into stores and dealing with people. The moment they even remotely say something that isn't true or try to do something contrary to what they tell me they're doing, I call them out on it and we start arguing. I'm a big guy, it always looks like I'm bullying folks, so I wind up leaving. I only deal with these people over the phone or online and I don't settle anything until I see some email confirmation that satisfies me.

My wife and I argue about this constantly. She always wants to "ask someone" nonsense. Stuff we already know. I keep telling her, they are either dumber than you or will lie to you, why do you need to ask them? She goes to a Verizon Wireless store to get phones for her parents that we'd extensively researched online, knowing exactly what she wanted. She walks out with more expensive phones of a different brand that are less capable. I flipped out internally, but calmly explained to her the 50 farking reasons that they are wrong and either too stupid to understand or just flat out scammed her. 3 days later they finally took the phones back and properly gave us all our money back and she got the phones we intended to get.

Do not trust people. At any company. Ever. Do your own research. Learn how to set up your own equipment. If they can screw you over, they will. Don't let them.
Couldn't agree more. I did the iPhone 12 purchase w/ trade-in in the store. I specifically picked a corporate store to avoid any issues with trade-in. The salesperson was trying to push purchasing case / screen protectors. I told her that I wouldn't use the phone until my accessories arrive from Amazon. The screen protector was $49.99 and comes with lifetime replacement warranty that I have to go to the store to get. I get a 3-pack for around $5 from Amazon. They work on commissions and likely making money on pricey accessories.

Just chiming in as a loooong time tmo customer-
- agreed, never go in store. They always lie about something and it's hard af to fix whatever they screw up
- your best bet is to call during regular bus hours (they were back to a dedicated team last time I called). Take notes. Like crap tons. Date, time, representative, key points. I track everything. You have to be diligent and get past their first line of bs (reps)
- tenacity is key- if you have records and you go up far enough (at least resolutions team supervisor), I've gotten everything I was promised and more (eventually 😂😂)
- also if you're speaking with a n actual rep as opposed to the random call centers, they always send you a text immediately stating the changes. The other ones don't.
-eta- afaik, the stores work as a separate entity from tmo online, similar to Walmart. they can't fix it once you've done your transaction in store.

What that means is; according to TForce;

If i remove the unlimited data after 4/7 on those 3 lines, the 3 lines will NOT qualify for unlimited data. They had to be removed before 4/7.

All 6 other lines will qualify for unlimited Data. Essentially they want to pocket the $20/per month, cause if everyone downgrades, they'll lose millions per month.
I chatted with T-Mobile agents on iMessage (I pay for 2 out of 8 lines $20 per line for unlimited high-speed data) and this was their reply: Hello there! We are deeply thankful for your strong patience with us. My expert is refreshing the tools for quick enhancement and will get back to you as fast as we possibly can. Rest assured that we won't leave you hanging. 😊 Thanks for holding on! Appreciate your patience! You got it right, if your data plan is migrated to the unlimited plan we offer for FREE, no need to pay those additional fees for high-speed data. And while we are waiting for our batch to be migrated, we would need to pay the $40 in the meantime.

Sorry if this has been covered but is this really a good deal? Right now T-Mo will give me a $415 one-time statement credit for trading in an iPhone X towards an iPhone 12 Pro.

I have a 6s with a tiny crack in the corner.
I assume this is not eligible for the iPhone 12 upgrade trade-in as-is, correct?
Add'l questions: If I got the screen replaced third-party would that be ok? And is that worth it?

I've been wanting to pick up the 12, but was hoping to keep my Xr as a backup. If I can't, such is life.

Kinda funny because most of the wives tend to do the same thing for some strange reasons...lol

My wife is somehow convinced that for Bluetooth set for conversation, nothing in the world beats AirPod Pros and are totally worth the price !
I convinced and showed her a million YouTube videos comparing various brands and models but somehow she is stuck on AirPod Pros !!
Finally I bought her Anker earpods as "warm up" and see how it goes and within 1s month I found those in our washing machine...!
After 3 months, those are gone/vanished !!
So I bought her Jabra Elite (very popular for conversation due to its ANC MIC) and are difficult to lose since those are connected behind the neck, but guess what? she has been told "those don't look as cool as AirPod Pros"...geez !
This world has become less techie and more fancy I believe...LOL

I wonder if people who have this $5 500 mb data plan will be given free unlimited on 4/18 like being advertised right now?

Edit: Or even those with 2gb $10 SCNA MI plans?

TForce is the best,

611 - meh, it works but i'm not super impressed

Instore employees are horrible. It's like most of them aren't even trying. They do the bare minimum and they are often not up-to-date with the most recent policies. I went in store to switch a line from physical to esim. I used to be able to do it myself, but Tmobile changed it to requiring it be done in store so I went in. Tried for 2 hours and then I decided to google and see what people are saying. Turns out that they allow you to do it from the tmobile app. Click a few buttons and done. The store employee was still clueless and I have to explain to them that now it can be done on the app.
Have to agree with you most of what you said, no comment on T-Force I avoid social media but on the others heres my experience over the last 14 years.

Customer Services:
(611 / toll free 800 line)

2007: Staff was well trained US based, introductory line was something like Hi, I'm Michelle calling from Phoenix or whatever part of the country they are from, solution focused and willing to problem solved mirrors (Discover card services)

In store corporate was similar but their focus was the customer and their issues, the dealer network was very small so I can't reflect on that.

Customer Services:
(611 / toll free 800 lines)

2021: Service highly automated if you have verbal issues your call will suffer getting connected to the correct area, support levels have diminished significantly, both customer service and technical support is a mixture of primarily foreign (language barrier) mixed with some domestic staff. The personal customer experience now is replaced with a more im-personal scripted responses.

In Store (corporate): Customer experience is primarily sales focused and often not personal, if you are needing product or service support the employees will reluctantly assist projecting a contemptuous demeanor.

In Store (dealer) : Experience will vary from much greatly, sales focused primarily often without a professional approach, support issues are met with frustration and customers are redirected to corporate tmobile stores.

It is fair to implement cost savings measures to remain competitive fiscally, but if your competitors begin to become customer focused they will retain their customers and probably take yours.

That's VERY different from what I was complaining about, lmao. If my wife and I did research and we settled on Airpod pros, even if it wasn't the way I would go personally, I would have no issue with her going out and buying them. She's free to decide what she wants for whatever reason she wants. I'm talking about asking someone when you already KNOW BETTER and then letting them steer you in another direction. My wife fully agreed with me afterward that what she wound up getting was worse than what we had already researched, and was furious that they lied to her.

What gets me is when you go "ask someone" about something and somehow expect more expertise than you yourself can research. I'm not talking about medicine or law or even finance. I mean a basic product that the average salesperson is no more trained than you can be if you just read some promotional materials. They are useless and will offer zero help, possibly even steering you towards higher commission earning items.

I have a iPhone 7 plus on AT&T Pay As you Go $30/mo. If I trade in for a iPhone 12, I get a $415 credit, but I also end up on a higher cost plan, $50 per month vs $30 per month with the current plan. So I pay ($50 - $30)*24 = $480 over two years, and my current iPhone 7 plus, to get a iPhone 12. Would I not be better off buying the phone without sim for full retail value and also keeping my current phone (perhaps sell off on marketplace for few bucks or keep as a spare phone). What am I missing?

The 6s is only eligible for trade in ($365 credit) for an iPhone 12 Mini. For the iPhone 12, they half off credit is only valid with an iPhone 7 or newer (see list of phones on first post/wiki).

For the 12 Mini, any old iPhone down to the original one is also eligible for that same trade-in. So keep your Xr, don't bother with the price of a screen replacement for a 6s, and just go buy a cheap old iPhone for the trade in. Check your local Craigslist, OfferUp, or eBay. As of right now, eBay item # 324567192760 is an iPhone 3GS for $22.45 shipped which has got to be cheaper than a screen replacement. A screen replacement would be fine if you want to go that route. And yes, normally any cracks on the front glass would disqualify the phone for a trade in.

If you're asking about the free unlimited data upgrade from this Un-carrier promotion, it's not active until 4/18 as mentioned in the original post. Wait and all will be made clear then (likely with a free unlimited data option that you can select for each line).

My last 5 yrs TM support experience can be summed up in a word: inconsistent!

I used to get outstanding support from iMessage/611 team.
Now the app chat team is currently taking the throne.

Tforce/Social Media is plain unhelpful and at one time, downright being a jerk.

Store: I had two awesome stores experiences. The rest is close to garbage.

So, inconsistent is the word for me to describe TM support.

Meanwhile, my relatives mentioned that ATT has been revamping their customer support & experience, and they have nothing but praise for it.

So far, TM get my business due to economic factor (i.e.: cheaper than competitors). Plus I haven't been traveling (for business or personal) in the past 2-3 yrs.
When I start traveling, I'd definitely put TM networks to the test as before their networks suck really bad
