To uninstall many junk apps preloaded by Samsung:
- Download, install, and launch the Minimal ADB and Fast Boot tool on your PC.
- Download, install, and launch the App Inspector app on the phone.
- On your phone, go to Settings and tap on About Phone. Find the Build Number and tap on it 7 times to enable Developer Options.
- Enter Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.
- Connect the phone to the PC via the supplied USB cable.
- Change to "file transfer (MTP)" mode at the phone.
- You will see a prompt on your phone asking you to authorize a connection with the computer. Grant it.
- Enter the command "adb devices" (no ") at the command prompt (PC screen).
- Enter the command "adb shell" if you see the serial number of the phone displayed. If not, then remove/reconnect the USB cable, grant connection, and retype the "adb devices" command.
- Enter pm uninstall -k --user 0 <name of package> for the app that you want to uninstall as displayed in App Inspector.
For Example, to remove youtube: pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.youtube
To restore youtube: cmd package install-existing com.google.android.youtube

Hopefully costco would give the cash deal. I hate the 24 months bill credit. Anybody know if my iPhone 11 has couple months to go, it would lose the bill credit if I pay it off early

I have a iPhone 7 plus on AT&T Pay As you Go $30/mo. If I trade in for a iPhone 12, I get a $415 credit, but I also end up on a higher cost plan, $50 per month vs $30 per month with the current plan. So I pay ($50 - $30)*24 = $480 over two years, and my current iPhone 7 plus, to get a iPhone 12. Would I not be better off buying the phone without sim for full retail value and also keeping my current phone (perhaps sell off on marketplace for few bucks or keep as a spare phone). What am I missing?
These are not for single line users who are looking to move to T-Mobile. These are best used in a multi-line plan to average out the cost. You are better off with your current provider or Visible or anyone who is offering a lower monthly rate and a discounted device upfront instead of waiting for 24-months to get the device.

Do you not already have an existing T-Mobile line? If you do, you can get an iPhone 12 that line with the $415 trade-in credit and the cost of the line isn't changing because these are for existing customers with existing plans. There's no requirements to change plans to take advantage of these offers so there are no plan cost differences over the 24 months for the majority of people on this thread.

If you are coming from AT&T and considering opening/adding a new line to a T-Mobile account, go to the Deals page on the T-Mobile website [t-mobile.com]. Looks like they are giving $530 for an iPhone 7 trade-in when you activate a line if that changes your decision making any.

If you're asking about the free unlimited data upgrade from this Un-carrier promotion, it's not active until 4/18 as mentioned in the original post. Wait and all will be made clear then (likely with a free unlimited data option that you can select for each line).
Ahh i missed the 4/18 date. Thank you for pointing that out.

I have a 6s with a tiny crack in the corner.
I assume this is not eligible for the iPhone 12 upgrade trade-in as-is, correct?
Add'l questions: If I got the screen replaced third-party would that be ok? And is that worth it?

I've been wanting to pick up the 12, but was hoping to keep my Xr as a backup. If I can't, such is life.
You could buy a working
Quote from ncll10 :
Was wondering about making these backup phones. Can I trade in two old phones to get these without keeping them on a line? In other words, to get 2 phones do I have to active them on 2 lines? And if so, can I just switch the lines back to the phones I have and let these phones sit as back-ups for 24 months while the bill credits continue? Or will the bill credits only continue if they are activated on a line?

I want to see if these 5G phones provide my parents with better service than their Moto G Power phones. They are in rural South Carolina and have had terrible service since the Sprint merger. T-Mobile keeps telling them it would be better if they had 5G phones. But if these don't work better for them, they will probably want to go back to the Moto G Power.
If they're in a rural area their service is not going to improve by using 5G phones. 5G has a VERY limited range (less than a couple of blocks) and they have to have cell sites built up in that particular are. That obviously isn't the case with rural areas. 5G is being built up as great technology but the range and the tendency to have interferences is going to leave a lot of people wondering what the hype is all about. Those who can get the signal unimpeded will be happy

TO confirm,

This means you need to pay the $40 for the 2 lines, correct?
What I understood is that we will pay the $40, until our bach migrates to the new plan. Once it does, we don't need to pay. I guess we won't know until they have implemented this.

The agent didn't tell you that you paid lines would be eligible for free unlimited promotion migration.

If you data plan is migrated to free unlimited data plan, you don't have to pay for unlimited data.If you data plan (likely for those two paid lines) is not migrated to free unlimited data plan, you need to continue to pay.
There is a prerequisite in the "if" statement for you to pay no extra for unlimited data.

For my understanding, you didn't ask the correct question or the agent didn't answer the correct question, which is if your paid unlimited lines eligible for the free unlimited migration.

I do not currently have an existing postpaid line, with T-Mobile/other carrier. Thanks for pointing me to the other promotion. With the other promotion, I get $530 credit for the phone. but the minimum plan is $60/month, so I pay ($60 - $30)*24 = $720 in extra monthly bill - $530 credit - $100 the phone costs in installments over retail price. So over two years, I'm paying $90 more and giving away my iPhone 7 plus when I take a postpaid connection. Seems to me like math always works in favor or prepaid connection over postpaid connections. I wonder why people opt for postpaid connections then, and get locked into contracts when prepaid is cheaper/no contract restrictions and you can buy any phone you want at any time.

Thinking about switching to T-Mo from AT&T and I'm confused about why this half off iPhone deal is any good. Currently they are offering $830 off any 12 with trade-in of an iPhone 8 or better. 8 can be had for $200ish on Swappa, so isn't $200 + tax on the 12 a WAY better deal than this one starting 4/18?

No question for a single line that prepaid is the way to go for savings. But for anyone who can wrangle together a family plan, whether that's really family or friends, many of us are paying $20/line (tax included) or less with T-Mobile after taking advantage of promotions and free line offers. Some people here are paying much less than that per line. That's why these promotions here are great because they are available for existing customers like us to take advantage of, whether it's the iPhone deals or the free Galaxy A32 5G.

coolchicago guy mentioned Visible which is $25/mo for unlimited data (Verizon network) if you join a Party Pay group: https://www.reddit.com/r/VisiblePartyPay/. I would be tempted to look into that myself if I didn't have a T-Mobile family plan.

The key difference is that this deal is available for existing customers who don't have to add another new line. If you are adding a new line or are a new customer, the iPhone 8 trade-in is definitely the way to go.

Sad story and sorry to hear that.
I use the Facebook messenger for T-Force and they will fix it for sure, those cust care folks on the phone are crooks, always said "sorry but NO" for everything I asked them and these T-Force fix everything (a bit slow but they WILL).
T-Force is the only reason I am still with T-Mo with my 12 lines otherwise I would have left them a long back...lol
I've been through the ringer for i4 months 3 stores, maybe 6 Experts, customer service and rebate center. Finally after this post someone took care of this. They couldn't do my port in rebate but gave me a credit. Thanks for your advise. I had posted my complaint on Facebook T_M site.

T-Mobile just had their Un-carrier announcement today that was mainly focused on their 5G network and making it available to all. They announced several promotions today that requires a trade in. New and existing customers qualify. They also announced a free unlimited data upgrade for those currently on a limited data plan.

Existing customers on a grandfathered limited data plan
  • Existing T-Mobile postpaid customer — including ALL former Sprint customers — still on a limited data plan, you're covered, too. You're getting an upgrade to unlimited. For Free.
Device Trade In Promotions
  • Trade in your existing mobile phone, and T-Mobile will give you a brand-spanking-new, Samsung Galaxy A32 5G smartphone for free, exclusive to T-Mobile postpaid customers. This offer applies to new and existing customers, and ANY old phone in working condition — flip phone, Sidekick, whatever that suitcase phone was called. T-Mobile will take it. And in exchange, you get a free 5G smartphone after 24 monthly bill credits and pay only the sales tax.
  • Get iPhone 12 on us — for free — with the trade-in of iPhone 11.
  • Get half off iPhone 12 with the trade-in of most older iPhone models — iPhone 7 through 10.
  • Get half off iPhone 12 mini with trade-in of ANY older iPhone— all the way back to the original! Still using an iPhone 5s? That works. iPhone 4? Yep. iPhone 3GS? That one also.
… all via 24 monthly bill credits. Simple. The trade-in must be paid off and in working condition. No add-a-line or port in required.

Qualifying credit & trade-in ($830: iPhone 11 Pro Max, 11 Pro, 11. $415: iPhone XS Max, XS, XR, X, 8 Plus, 8, 7 Plus, 7, 6s Plus, 6s, 6 Plus, 6, SE1, and SE2. $365: 5S, 5, 5c, 4S, 4, 3GS, 3G, Original iPhone.) required. $10 SIM card and $20 support charge may be required. Up to $830 via trade-in credit and bill credits; must be active and in good standing to receive credits; allow 2 bill cycles. Max 4/account. See T-Mobile.com for details.

iPhone offer is only available for a limited time from April 18 through May 1
A32 5G offer is available on April 18 through the end of 2021

________________________________________________________________________

My take on these device promotions. They don't really benefit those with newer model phones as we've seen better promotions in the past.

However I can see many taking advantage of the free Samsung A32 5G promotion that only requires a trade in of ANY working phone. Assuming you're fine with EIP credits.

As far as the iPhone promotion goes, the trade in values of $415 for 6s Plus, 6s, 6 Plus, 6, SE1. $365: 5S, 5, 5c, 4S, 4, 3GS, 3G, Original iPhone towards any iPhone 12 model is what most should be looking at. Just waiting for T-Mobile to put up the actual promo pages to confirm that these trade in values apply to all iPhone 12 models and not just the Mini.
I went to the store and no one knew about this promo.
