To uninstall many junk apps preloaded by Samsung:
- Download, install, and launch the Minimal ADB and Fast Boot tool on your PC.
- Download, install, and launch the App Inspector app on the phone.
- On your phone, go to Settings and tap on About Phone. Find the Build Number and tap on it 7 times to enable Developer Options.
- Enter Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.
- Connect the phone to the PC via the supplied USB cable.
- Change to "file transfer (MTP)" mode at the phone.
- You will see a prompt on your phone asking you to authorize a connection with the computer. Grant it.
- Enter the command "adb devices" (no ") at the command prompt (PC screen).
- Enter the command "adb shell" if you see the serial number of the phone displayed. If not, then remove/reconnect the USB cable, grant connection, and retype the "adb devices" command.
- Enter pm uninstall -k --user 0 <name of package> for the app that you want to uninstall as displayed in App Inspector.
For Example, to remove youtube: pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.youtube
To restore youtube: cmd package install-existing com.google.android.youtube

Hopefully costco would give the cash deal. I hate the 24 months bill credit. Anybody know if my iPhone 11 has couple months to go, it would lose the bill credit if I pay it off early

They waived the assist fees, shipping fee, and sim fee from the start. If I am doing a device upgrade, I always ask from the outset for those fees to be waived. Almost always, they agree to it. If not, I sign off and try another rep.

I would definitely chat with them and ask for a credit, or some other perk that they can throw your way. Just tell them a friend did the same deal as you and was not charged those fees, so you would like the same courtesy extended to you as a loyal T-mobile customer. Peace

The silver iPhone 12 Pro I ordered yesterday was just delivered this morning. It's actually for my daughter so she will be excited. I am now thinking about also doing the deal for the Mini as you did. I will probably do it if I can find my old iPhone 5 that I have laying around somewhere.
What method do you use to chat? The website? Facebook? something else?

Contact T-Force. Twitter, Messenger, or T-mobile app all work well.

Not sure what your point is and what you are saying here. I was explaining to a fellow SDer how to request a fee credit or waiver. Obviously fees are waived case by case. Otherwise T-mobile would have a blanket no-fees policy in the first place.

you got courtesy credits and did play rules..

I think that answers the question if it's even worth getting it. If you have elders or kids or anyone who's a minimum user who don't need flagship models or you're never leaving T-mobile any time soon then yes.

I have a spare Samsung 8 and LG V35 that will run circles around the A32 with exception of the 5G capability

So the math on trading in an iPhone 8 for a iPhone 12 works out that after 24 months, the iPhone 12 ends up costing me $500. Not bad but not a screaming good deal either, and you also have to mess with the 24 months of credit.

I assume if you upgrade to another phone during that time period (and the iPhone 12 no longer becomes active on the account) you would lose the monthly credit, yes? If so, not only are you stuck with T-mobile for 24 months, but you are also stuck with the same phone for 2 years, if you want to realize the full credit.
The half off promotional credit is $415 which means you're paying $415 for the phone. Add in tax, the value of the trade-in and it does get to $500 easily for everyone. Honestly, the only reason this is a deal at all is because it's (1) available to existing T-Mobile customers when it's rare for any mobile provider to give any offers to existing customers and (2) they're giving the credit for old phones like the iPhone 7 (and ancient iPhones in the 12 Mini deal).

So if you're not an existing T-Mobile customer or aren't intending to stay with T-Mobile forever because you have a cheap family plan with a bazillion free lines, the deal is decent at best as you mention.

One correction is that the new iPhone 12 you get doesn't ever have to be used on that line on T-Mobile. There's no notion of it having to be "active" on the account in order to receive the promotional bill credits. You could never use it (throw it in a drawer), give it away, etc. and you will still receive the bill credits as long as you don't cancel the line. So you are not stuck with the iPhone 12 for 2 years but you are stuck with T-Mobile service for 2 years.

Agreed. This also goes for my two in-a-drawer 5G Nord N10s I got free from Metro that will auto-unlock in 2 months, and that I only paid one month of service for. The Nords have better specs than the A32, too.

The only "deal" here is on the iPhone 12 Mini wtth any old undamaged iPhone trade-in; will maintain its value better than any Android, even the flagships.

A family member is using it and I was thinking of getting the A32 for him so he can have 5G, then I look at the specs comparison, no way he's going for the A32 over the V35. The V35 is an awesome phone. Too bad LG got out of the phone business. I got the phone in 2019 on Ebay. It was an unlocked AT&T version and I reflashed it to a generic US unlocked FW version which works great!

I have 3 phone lines on my account. Can i still exchange 4 old phones ?

EDIT : to answer my own question, YES I was able to exchange all 4. I called this afternoon, and the rep was able to do 3 phones on one order, then add the 4th as a separate order. She waived the assistance/ shipping fees, so I paid taxes only. Shipping expected sometime May 4-10

I think the key incentive / dangling carrot for the A32 is trade in "any working phone". That got EVERYONE excited. They could have just given it for free without that tradein and actually save on costs of all that work processing the tradeins and disposing them; trust me non of the tradeins for the A32 is worth anything. T-Mobile is 1) helping the environment cause, helping customers dispose of old cell phones 2) locking you in on that line for 2 years 3) getting people to start using 5G so they can reclaim the 3G spectrum for other use

It is worth getting it now but like I said, if you wait for a year then it will not be worth it.

Why?
  • This phone will be dirt cheap. Some of those who got it now will be disposing their phones and will saturate the market. You'll soon see $40-$80 used/renewed for this phone.
  • Because there will be other phones better than this and probably the same Free trade in deal.
  • Also, you'll be stuck until 2024 if you don't get it now. So if you get it now, you'll be free by 2023. If you wait for a year, then you'll be stuck until 2024. So get it now ASAP.

I can take my old Moto flip phone to any store (and there are many) that recycles old electronics. The A32 is middling at best, and many will stop being used and become e-waste in a year or two. This is all about profits, not the environment.

Anyway, TMo will begin to shut down their 2G/3G/UMTS services October 1 thru the end of 2022, whether customers have a 4G / 5G phone or not.

I see on Tmobile website where they have up to $830 off if you trade in a qualified phone with line activation. I already have 7 lines...I don't need another one. Question: can I trade in a phone and open a new line to qualify for the trade and then cancel one of my old number? The new line stays the same. I don't mind losing my old number. Your guidance / feedback is greatly appreciated!
