If you had a spare Galaxy S8 why didn't you jump on the Free S21 promotion?

Last week I literally traded in a Galaxy S8 for a S21.

Bought the S8 off eBay. It had Pokemon Go burned heavily into the screen but was otherwise flawless.

Tmobile guy took it.
How did you get free s21

Confirmed that if I trade in an old basic working phone for the free SAMSUNG A32 instead of the Iphone that I have on my line, I will get the monthly credit for 24 months to make it free AND I can still do the Iphone trade in too? Have to pay off the $282 phone price for the Samsung A32 phone first? I will still get the monthly credit on my account and still can do the Iphone trade in promo?

My situation -- Have an iPhone XS that I'm not currently using but would like to take advantage of the 5G promo upgrade/trade in value. Current device on my account is a S21+ which is already 5G so it errors out on the order process when I put in the IMEI number of the iPhone as my trade/upgrade against the line. Assumption is because I'm trading in against the line that is already 5G.

Could I just swap my SIM into the iPhone, wait till it shows up as that phone in my account not having 5G and then go through with the upgrade? Will it then mess anything up with either my trade-in or receiving the monthly credits once I put the SIM back in the S21+?

I think I did a confusing enough job explaining that....

There is no current offer to trade in an S8 for a free S21. Yes if you trade in an S9 and add a line. . .

EDIT, I saw he later said through Sprint. Not really relevant or applicable here. . .I couldn't even start a new Sprint account now even if I wanted to, nor would I want to after 6 free lines this past year since joining TMO, just to save a few more bucks on a phone, in comparison. . .in fact just cancelled a coveted $15 Kickstart line, just because it finally now more expensive in the end. That was/is an awesome plan for those with one or two lines (especially with one $15 plus a free line) but I've gone jumbo multi family plan instead and TMO is cheaper for me and allows phone deals

I Accidentally did a line upgrade on a line with an existing EIP! Freaked out until I could get ahold of TMO Customer Service the next day. I was told by customer service that two EIPs can exist on one line. The original EIP is 10 months old.
Having two EIPs on a line is a different issue vs. having two recurring device credits on a line. Is there any promotional device credit already on the line associated with your existing EIP?

This T-Mobile page [t-mobile.com] states that only a single recurring device credit can exist on a line at a time. But thecure's post right above yours seems to contradict what this T-Mobile page states regarding multiple device credits on a line. Would be nice to somehow officially know what is correct.

You may have one Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo per line at a time. To get a new Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo and keep your current credit, you must pay off the existing EIP first.
  • If you pay off your EIP early, you'll continue to receive the promised Recurring Device Credits (RDC) as an account-level credit through the remaining months of the promotional credit period (up to 24 or 36 months).
  • Additionally, you can't pay off an EIP by deducting the remaining Recurring Device Credits (RDC) installments from the remaining EIP balance. The full EIP balance must be paid to close out the plan.

The "game" here, if you will, is to trade in a worthless phone towards the A32. Even a flip phone. That is the IMEI you want to enter when doing it. Not your S21 or even XS.

Find a cheap flip phone or buy one for $10. But don't involve your valuable XS or S21 in the mix of the order. After you trade in flip phone, and receive A32. . .THEN you can do whatever you want. Put sim from XS into the A32, etc. etc. You could even put the A32 in the drawer as backup and never use it. . .

Not to mention the dreaded phone/sim swap crap every time you want to change phone. I'm getting ready to cancel my 2 line $15 Kickstart plan. Should have gotten the add 1 get 1 from T-Mobile last month. Would have been cheaper than the Kickstart Plan once you add in all the fees.

Now the real question is how are you planning to trade in? Is yours gsm or cdma? Mine is cdma so no IMEI number to put into their system.

Check earlier in the thread for converters. If you have a 14 digit numbers only MEID HEX . . .and enter it into the calculator. . .it will give you the correct needed 15th digit

Tried it on a few Sprint phones and it worked

https://www.imei.info/calc

Alternatively, if you have the first 14 digits, you can enter/guess towards the 15th digit one at a time (0-9) into the ting checker etc until it shows your phone model (max 10 tries this method).

Tforce should be able to do the "math" for you if you give them the MEID/model as well. All of the above just seems safer than just entering an incorrect/incompatible "IMEI" on order page.
