Will they accept it as trade in?
They might accept it. It is all based on how strict they are on their terms!
However, I won't take a risk, when I know it doesn't satisfy one of the condition. Don't take risk of ~$300.00, when you can mitigate it by spending < $20.00.

You need go to the Corp store than dealer
But then I would miss out on the perks and offers from Costco. I am not a timid person so I'm fine with calling out kiosk employees on their BS and games, so no problem in the end getting the deals done in the end.

It was specifically one of the 3 questions they asked when doing the trade in on-line.
I guess you could tick "yes" and see if it allows you to continue.

Costco adds a new line promotion is different one which has no impact on trade-in afterwards

Maybe I'm missing it somewhere in here, but what's the steps for trade-in when you don't want to active the phone?
I have two lines I want to upgrade to this phone, and two I don't - but would still like to trade-in some old phones for the A32 so that I can get the max of 4.

My store had them in stock but could only do the free A32 5G with a new line. They could have fulfilled the trade-in offer, but the phone would need to be shipped and it was already OOS for delivery.
Many Costco are not doing this due to high demand and when there is no new line added they don't make anything. From a sellers view point totally make sense.

They were doing this initially but not anymore. Ymmv some might still do the deal

I think a) is incorrect. Same line won't get two device promo credits, unless you have lots of time to kill with TM CS. One line can have MAX on service promo and one device promo.
Paying off EIP on a line frees up that line. Doing another EIP promo on that same line is then possible, and then bill credits are applied at the account level for the paid off EIP. I have done this several times.

I wasn't referring to AAL promotion. I am commenting on the current A32 deal that requires only a trade-in device. One can often double dip by processing a T-Mobile promo with a separate Costco offer at the kiosk. You just have to know what you're doing and often instruct the clueless kiosk employees.

For example, for the current A32 promo, some have done the deal at the kiosk where Costco processes the A32 order for shipping, prints the label for device trade-in, and also a Costco rebate offer for buying a new device at Costco. Also, no fees. No AAL. YMMV for stock availablity.

A paid off phone means
a) the line is free again to use for other promos
b) the phone is now owned by you
c) you can unlock the phone (after 40 days of service).
Thank you for the response!

will try tonight. but no luck so far.

just in case it doesn't work out, i should be able to transfer my line (that has the unlimited add on) out to google voice, and then take a brand new line [with different number] to get the unlimited data right?

i can always forward from GV to my new number.

is there a wait time to transfer back my number from GV to tmobile?
No, this unlimited is one time only (until the next one several years from now). You should have canceled the paid data plan the day of the announcement.

What happens if upgrade the line that is paid off early? Does the earlier moves to account level credit and I get the new credits on the device upgrade at the line level? Or do I lose any credits (on Ole paid off device or the new device that I just upgraded)?

This. I never understand why people care so much about phone color when nearly everyone slaps a case on immediately.
