Might be unlocked since when you buy you don't have to link it to an account unlike the other iPhone se deal Walmart has which you had to link to a Verizon account. If not you can use it on Verizon most likely. Also buy online because if you buy in store the troc guy will most likely make you get a plan and activate it. You can still do curbside I believe though.

The iPhones are in two different inventory systems and they have to go through a carrier to be sold. Even if it's a device only. Walmart is required to lock them before selling them.
So if I activate this on my family members Verizon account can I then take it to T-Mobile or who ever I want to?
I don't know but I bought a "sprint" pixel that was in a deal like this and there wasn't even a sim in it so I put my T-Mobile in and it worked. I say sprint in quotes because the phone was sold without a plan and it comes from the factory unlocked.
One explanation would probably because of the Sprint TMO merger. A lot of Sprint locked phones were able to use a TMO sim, and vice versa.
What do you mean by different sim? There is only one sim standard but multiple bands and sim sizes.
I wish I had a picture to show you. One of their Sim cards actually has a totally different set of numbers than the postpaid and it's actually labeled verizon prepaid on it. I only know because I tried to help a customer and give her one of our postpaid Sim cards only to be told by verizon that she needed the prepaid version.

I see it's more of the sim has different codes on it then a normal sim. Got-a leave it to Verizon to make everything more complicated.

No this is a branded Verizon prepaid and Verizon locks every phone for 60 days after activation

Do I have to buy any of their prepaid plans or can I just activate it and leave it on for 60 days?
No payments other than the $ 250 device.
You have to have service for 2 months and I believe 35 is the cheapest plan on Verizon prepaid
Has to be Verizon prepaid though because Verizon won't let their prepaid phones be used on the postpaid side
How do you know what side it is?
The iPhone SE on Verizon prepaid has been 249 for 4 months and Verizon postpaid uses a different SIM card than Verizon prepaid

This is the 2020 version of the iPhone SE. It's the same size as the iPhone 8
As long as you have had 2 months of service on it
