If you register your Korg keyboard, keyboard rack module or digital piano online within 90 days of purchase, Korg will extend your Korg manufacturer's warranty for an extra year for free if purchased from a Korg authorized dealer. A copy of the registration confirmation email and a legible copy of the product's sales receipt from the authorized dealer are both required for extended warranty service. To register your Korg product, please click http://i.korg.com/Register

A legible copy of the item's original itemized sales receipt from a Korg authorized dealer must be presented to the Korg authorized service center prior to the request for warranty repair. Documentation such as packing lists, credit card statements, or the registration confirmation email does not replace the original itemized sales receipt as valid proof of purchase or verification for warranty repairs.

Tuned, probably. If he hasn't had it tuned in years, that means it's going to need a large pitch raise, this means you need several successive tunings to get a stable sound, and it won't last nearly as long as a regular tuning. Each tuning is $150. And because it's probably never been serviced, it will need a full regulation (lubrication, key action adjustment), that's $500. It's not practical unless he's serious about piano. Acoustic pianos need 2 tunings a year so that's $300 a year. Then there's the fact that if the owner never bothered with humidity control during the winter months, the tuning block may be dried out or the bridge may be dried out, this happens alot in forced air furnace homes, so.... yea, people just don't know, or they don't care. Wood is very delicate especially since the piano is under so much mechanical tension.

Piano salesmen don't care, they have to eat, so they'll sell to anyone, but as a piano enthusiast, I always tell people unless you're serious and ok with the high upkeep cost of acoustic piano, just get a digital.

Asking to the Slickdeals piano experts, is that good for a 5 years kid who mastered "simply piano" on the iPad and want to try the a real keyboard now ? If not what do you recommend. Kid never used a real keyboard and will start taking classes

This is probably a bit overkill for a 5 year old just starting.

You used to be able to pick up a 61 key Casio keyboard for $60, nowadays theyre overpriced (covid). If you look at Walmart.com they sell digital 61 key keyboards with stands for like $70-$80, just get one with good reviews.

These cheaper keyboards dont have weighted keys so a 5 year old will have a better time getting used to it (weighted keys for young hands fatigue and cramp)

If he sticks to it and really enjoys it and advances later in life u can look for something like this. But 61 keys is all he needs for beginner-mid level

The Casio CDP S100 hit $300 on Black Friday last year. That is a very good price for it. It is a very good beginners piano, the keybed is excellent and it can run on batteries. The Korg does seem to have much better on board sounds though. But that's not a big deal if you have some good VSTs when you record.

I've tried out Yamaha and Casio digital pianos and I very much like the action, weighted keys. Is the keybed on the Korg just as good?

Yeah Casio makes pretty good stuff in my opinion. I just looked at the one I had, was a ctk 2080 and never had issues. If you can get a cts100 for a good price I dont see why not

Yea it's fine.

S100 and B2, won't make much of a difference for what you're using it for. You can wait for s100 to come back to $300, but what's the point. Just buy this B2 now.

We would like to see the B2 hit $300, that would be interesting.

B2 action is a bit better than S100, because the S100 is keys are really short.

There's a brand new Casio CT-S1 that's coming out. It seems really good for a beginner/practice piano but does not have weighted keys. But really good sounds. It seems a level above the last generation of keyboards.

If I remember correctly the CT-S100 keys have just one volume level. So if you play soft or hard it's the same volume. That will make learning proper piano technique tough.

Had to return this due to white noise even when volume is turned all the way down to zero, which I believe is not a defect but just the way this is. The bottom of this digital piano look like waffles so that was also not very pleasing aesthetically but who really looks underneath their pianos often. The sound quality seemed decent (I'm not an expert at music for heed my warning) and the keys were weighted just like you would expect from a digital piano.
I had bought the Korg B2 (when on sale), Yamaha P-125, and the Roland FP-30X, and so far the Roland is my favorite for their PHA4 mechanics, their proprietary Apps and Bluetooth connectivity, and overall quality, albeit it is slightly more expensive than the former by roughly $400 and $100, respectively.
You could say that the better the quality the higher the price like laptops and computers, but just like laptops and computers if you know exactly what you are looking for, you know exactly what you are getting and what to expect for that extra $100-$400. I wish I could have tried them at a physical store, but there are none near where I live so I had to order them online. Fortunately for me the stores I bought them from accepted my returns and I am left happily with my favorite digital piano.
Did you have to pay for return shipping when you returned this piano? Did you buy it from Adorama

Amongst other synthesizers I have this digital piano. This is by far the best you're going to get in the price range even at full retail price so if you want a digital piano hop on this deal now
Did you find any white noise issues with this, when not playing any music?

The audio fidelity I find spectacular. The speakers are very loud and clear with good definition and bass, no excessive hiss or artifacts even at max volume (which is loud). it does emit a tiny bit of hiss from the speakers at all times if you put your ear up to it but nothing distracting; better that than poor quality speakers or poor piano samples like most others in this price. the instrument sample quality is better than others in the price range.

I also have listened via Sennheiser HD560S headphones plugged directly in the 3.5mm jack and sound is similarly excellent

the one and only downside to this unit is that while you can split the keyboard for 2 players (teaching mode), you cannot play 2 different patches at the same time (i.e. you can't do strings+piano), which may or may not be a problem. personally I'll take the higher fidelity sound in it's price range over more features.

Also, re: aesthetics see attached (this is with the optional stand Korg offers). Looks pretty amazing to me!

yamaha is all the rage and hard to find right now, due to production/shipping constraints, and apparently a fire at an audio chip plant in japan.

If you have to get something now, I think fp30x is a good choice. I would like to add caution as if you intended to practice ALOT, Fp30x's PHA4 is not a good action choice, because it's really heavy. For extended practice sessions, Kawai's RHC / RHC2 , Yamaha's GHS, This korg's NW, are more suitable.

It's on back order, but is $799 a good price? TIA

I fundamentally believe all digital pianos are massive rip-offs for what they are. If you've looked inside one, it's basically completely hollow with very cheap electronics.

AMONG these fundamentally rip-off products, I do think the DGX 670 represents better value than most, as it comes with alot of articulable sounds and better arranger / recording features.

It's something you can have more fun with musically. All the other products in the price range are extremely barebone.

I don't remember exactly which store I bought the Korg B2 from, but I didn't have to pay for RS. I told them about the issues I was having, and they gladly took them back. Might have been Adorama but I'm not sure. Sorry I can't be much help. Better ask Adorama CS directly about returns Smilie

Thanks.
Though it's double the B2 price right now, but I would think my kids will enjoy DGX 670 than the B2.
What is the equivalent of DXG-670 on KORG line up?
