Bought this set last year and very happy with it. The best validation is when the wife says it's too loud or too much bass.

I see these jamo deals all the time. I've always been hesitant because I don't know what kind of or how good of a reciever to pair them with. I'm not an audiophile by any means. I really enjoy my Yamaha soundbar and does a good job for the space/sound ratio for me. But I'm the type of person that's always looking for better but also not trying to break the bank. Are these jamo deals a huge step above my sound bar for the amount of money and the larger space I'm going to have to accommodate? Please don't flame me because I use a soundbar. I know 5.1 setup obviously will beat a 2.1. Just asking an honest question.

Well you are kinda answering your own question.
"I know 5.1 setup obviously will beat a 2.1" which is true but to know if it's a "huge step above" for you, you would have to listen for yourself.

Since it sounds like you don't like/want a "large" footprint, tight budget or spend as little as possible and you found the soundbar "does a good job", kinda answers your question.

As far as a receiver you only need 5 channels and this doesn't require a lot of power to run especially if a soundbar is sufficient for you and layout.
Unlike a soundbar you have to run speaker wire/cable to the speakers and sub in your layout.

The trade off, you sacrifice the quality of the sound

I should of waited for this sale. Instead I got the 5 speaker set with the 801s (instead of the 803) for 399 same place. Another 100 for a 10" sub I say is a killer deal. Elitests will tell you to replace the sub with a $20,000 89" SVS made for meteorites but this will boom a small room. If you want an entry level HT, this is it. I love mine!

This will be a big step up from "most" sound bars.

There are a few very expensive sound bars that sound VERY GOOD.

What model is your yamaha?

Don't worry about an avr's "sound". When set to "flat", most humans would be hard pressed to hear a difference between the "good" brands (Yamaha, DENON/Marantz, etc) on your average home speakers.

Get a Avr that is a future-proof as possible and at the top of your budget. Audyssey xt32 or the top tier YPOA "could" give you the best sound due to equalization for your unique room.

Oh look another comment by supermanrob on a Jamo post. I'm surprised you did mention this was named the best value in 2017 & 2018 🤣. How much does Jamo pay you?

It's just an old yas 203 my wife got me for our 1 yr wedding anniversary in 2015. Lol. It's not exactly rocking the room but does decent for the size. Any suggestions on a decent reciever to pair with these budget 5.1 deals from adorama that pop up a lot?

You can try the Yamaha TSR-700 thats available at Costco.. Its inexpensive at 399 and offers a lot of bang for buck.. If you need something from Denon - the AVR-S750h is also available at same price.
Yamaha has HDMI 2.1 and lot of other features will be added later this year, so it might be a better buy

Very nice. Thank you. I got the Sony 75x90C (x900h) with hdmi 2.1 for $1500 around November so that should pair well. I just wasnt sure if these adorama deals were trash because I see them allll the time on here. I get it tho... Entry level setup. But I'm sure good enough to watch some movies and ball games. I'm not too picky

In fact, I am not aware of a single study that suggest people can hear the difference between amps operated within spec.
