I disagree. I'm personally not interested in paying an extra $50 for a couple of plastic figures. I'm backing the kickstarter but only the book of adventures which contains the new missions.

This and Spirit Island are the best punishing, cooperative games on the market. A must have for anyone into that.

I'm actually really torn between getting the adventurers only or the castaway veteran. I thought it was just figures but the castaway veteran gives you access to some of the stretch goals that add extra cards. Like the cat gives you 10 more build cards, parrot 10 more gathering cards and 10 more event cards. There's a little bit of "expansion" stuff we miss out on for the adventures only. It's likely not worth the 50$ but that FOMO.

Does it still feel like you accomplished something when you die? Like, "We didn't make it, but we made it to level 9!" or something. My girlfriend and I are pretty good at cooperative games. We normally take things like Pandemic at the highest difficulty levels and do pretty well.

But, to be honest, we usually get grumpy if we lose like 3 or 4 times in a row.
