I actually double checked to see what version it is because sometimes the sellers don't actually know. I asked whether the IMEI started with 35 or 99. If it starts with 35 it's a Verizon version, if it starts with 99 it's the Google version.

They responded, "the stock we have start with 35"

So that means these are the Verizon version with a locked bootloader. For those that may not know, they can still be used on any carrier just fine. They are carrier unlocked. The bootloader however is locked. This means that you cannot install a custom ROM to keep updated when Google stops updating Android on this phone. Many people won't care about that, but people that are tech savvy and want to extend the useful life of this phone by installing newer versions of Android won't be able to.

Great for putting on CalyxOS.org to have a privacy minded phone.

EDIT: was informed later in thread that custom ROMs like CalyxOS cant be installed on Verizon variants of this phone (havent verified this but thanks to the user that called this out)

You probably had a defective phone. Yes, the memory's inadequate so apps will often have to relaunch when you multitask. Yes, the battery is bad so you need to either carry a power bank or a charger. But other than that, the phone's great.

Quick google search and first result came back with 5 hours. Compare that to the Moto Power which is 11-14 according to first search result, and its easy to see that pixel 3 is not good for someone who favors battery life.
If you favor no lag and smooth phone. The 3 is a lot better than that g power.

The latest update fixed a lot of those issues BTW- did you upgrade?
I've always updated and have it on Fi. I've also done a system reset a couple times, never fixes the problems. I'm willing to concede that it's possible I've gotten a bad unit, but I've seen LOTS of similar complaints. I think the phone just doesn't have enough RAM for what the other hardware and software want.

Sounds to me you got yourself a dud. I'm at over 2.5 years with both the 3 and 3xl. Although not perfect, we have not run into anything remotely close to your experience.
Entirely possible I've just gotten unlucky with my particular phone. However, I've seen a ton of similar complaints. In my experience, it sucks. At the very least, it's a gamble.

Why do you waste so much money with fi?

They won't work on my ZTE Blade 10 that I got from a previous deal.

I bought 2 for my 2 kids. Let's see how these hold up. I love the Pixel phones and I'm still on my Pixel 3 XL after 3 years.

is this phone a good buy for future trade-in such as $850 credit toward iPhone, etc.?

Thanks much.

If you plan to used this on another carrier, the first Amazon review here [amazon.com] says to remove the Verizon SIM before turning on the phone. Otherwise, you need to do a factory reset after removing the SIM.

How long ago did this phone have a realistic MSRP of $800? $800 msrp today gets you a Galaxy S21 with about 5 times the specs. I feel like $169 is an ok price but not 70% off for sure.

I think this model gets unlimited uploads to google photos(at lower quality). I bought an OG Pixel for that purpose.
