What's the most popular camera body that's below $300? Lenses separately.

Is a7r ii too outdated?
The a7rii is very outdated. I would NOT buy the a7rii. I had commented to you earlier about why but my comment was DELETED. Watch out guys

Because it was a horrible comment, I guess.

It's not VERY outdated, but yes it's rather slow.
It's all depends on how you use it.
For landscape, it's still one of the best camera under $4000, and you can get this for $1100.
If you know what you do, 7IIR + $2000 lens can be much better than $2000 camera + $1000 lens.

The battery life is awful, the autofocus is outdated, the cameras operations are extremely slow, the color science is outdated, the camera is poorly weather-sealed, there is only one memory card slot, and the ports/wifi/bluetooth connections are all extremely outdated.

This is coming from a former A7Rii OWNER. I'm just trying to save people here from wasting money and im going to do that whether you or the moderators like it or not.

Really? I thought they will hide your post if it has too many down votes. I didn't realize that they will delete the comment outright. What has SD come to?

Your points are valid, but you have to look at this from a $1000 point of view, not however much money that you spent on it or it's MSRP when it first came out. Coming from a former a7rII owner, I do agree that it's slow compared to all the newer cameras, but it's still perfectly useable. You also won't find anything that competes with IQ in this price range, it's on par w/ the a7rIV. The outdated color science really is a moot point as people are going to be shooting RAW. Battery life is pretty subpar tho, but third party ones are pretty affordable. I don't think that the wireless technologies matter since you can't transfer RAW files anyways even on the a7rIV, or unless you're planning to transfer your images via ftp. Not having dual card slots is a bummer, but then again not many cameras offer it at this price point. For the discounted price, I think that it's a good value if speed isn't your top priority. I think that it's a good fit for portraits w/ it's continuous Eye-AF, travel, and landscapes. There's really nothing else that touches this camera's sensor at this price point and has the plethora of native lenses, first and third party available for it.

wow... that's a slickdeal for the A7RIV. Very tempting to sell my A7RIII for the IV at this price. Other than pixels, is it worth upgrading from the A7RIII to A7RIV?
I'd keep the a7R III. The a7R V is right around the corner. It'll come with more recent AF upgrades, the better back panel screen, the new and revised menu interface, and the new lossless RAW files. It'll also likely come with the new CFExpress Type B slots and the 10gbps USB port (vs the current 5gbps).

That being said... it'll cost nearly double this (around $4k). The a7r IV is still noticeably better than the a7R III, with better AF, viewfinder, and of course, resolution. But I've been reluctant to upgrade since my a7R III is still a great camera that does very well. I'm in no rush to upgrade, so I could just wait until the a7R V drops down to a more palatable price. But if you need the better AF and resolution for events, real estate, etc. go for it.

Cheapest for regular customer who aren't student or educator was in dec where the a7r ii was 1200 at bestbuy amazon and b&h. 1299 is good, but I am waiting for 999. The Sony G lens 24-70mm is a good real though. All time low according to camel save for those amazon price mistake in 2019.
