      PSA: For those in states where you're considering enrolling in the utility program to save money on the thermostat, make sure you carefully read the terms and conditions on those programs. For my state and local utility (and I assume other states and utility companies) the pricing model changes, in some cases drastically, by introducing different levels of peak pricing and sometimes even direct control over your thermostat. Whether it can save you money in the long-term is possible, but just be sure you fully understand what the program entails before jumping in with both feet.

      The participating utility list for New York and New Jersey is mixed up, PSEG is only for New Jersey residents, not New York.
      It does work for New Jersey, allowing two free Nest thermostats. ($19.59 tax and shipping for the two free units)

      Update on Dominion. Now gives a $99 price on the thermostat, but when you get to checkout you get "Please check a regionld in shipping address". Whatever that means.......can't get past it to see if there is any further discount. Left them another message, for whatever that is worth.

      Rocky Mountain power will give you $50 off if you have electric heat and another $50 off if you have central AC. You can get a coupon for the discount up front or you can apply for a rebate within 90 days of purchase.
