I'm 6'1" 175 lb male and am really glad I have the 40mm. It's pretty funny reading the comments how many big tough guys there are in this thread that judge people on the size of their watch, lol. I guess I'm saying check out both sizes if you can and see what works best for you.

IMO, the SE is like a Series 4.75 . Positives = slightly better processor (Series 5), more memory (all are 32GB storage), compass (series 5), altimeter (series 6). Negatives = no EKG (Series 4), no always on display (series 5), No blood oxygen sensor (Series 6), no U1 Ultra WideBand chip (Series 6).

Those are the basics. So the SE would have a little more than your series 4, but not much, and even lose a things. You might get another year of support for the SE down the line.

Also, in my opinion, the Apple Watch SE will take over for the Series 3 as the entry model this fall, likely selling for close to, if not at, the current MSRP for the Series 3 (40mm for $199.99, 44mm for $229.99). It just makes sense to retire the Series 3 and move the SE down to that price point in September 2021. Could be some good sub $200 deals on the SE series by the holidays this year.

Just an FYI for anyone looking, SE model does NOT have the "always on" retina display, only the Series 5 and 6 do.

personally have never purchased apple care. if you're concerned with getting it damaged, you can always buy a case and screen protector for the watch as well.

I say it is. I got Apple Care+ on my Series 6 because you never know with scratches and dings since I wear mine everywhere and accidents do happen. I pay $3.99 a month for my Series 6.

I'm buying a SE for my mom and it's $2.49 a month or $49 for a 2 year plan for Apple Care+.
