Notes:
Device must be on a paid, active Tracfone line for 12 full months before it can be unlocked for use on other carriers.
However, this device is 100% fully compatible with Total Wireless, Net10 and Straight Talk without needing to unlock it first.
Can be used as a WiFi only device with no need to activate.
No contract or activation required to purchase or use as a "mini tablet" over WiFi or connected to a different phone's mobile data hotspot.
If you activate the included prepaid card, you are under no obligation to continue paying for service past the initial 30-days of included airtime. It will end automatically on day 31 (you must prepay to continue).
I bought 2 of these last time they had sale at 59.00. I had them both unlocked for 6.00 via ebay.
If you look at the build number (in settings/software) you will see build number.
ex. S205DLUDU5BTE7 (My 5th digit from end was a 5) if bit number is 6,7,8 cost is higher to unlock.
However, I "think" you can 'downgrade' firmware to older version. (YMMV) I didnt have to with mine.
Each time an app updates it seems to consume even more RAM or system memory. Each update to Android OS causes it too to use more RAM. It's not the older CPU or smaller storage crippling my budget phones. It's the lack of available system memory. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. This is a great deal for a phone with 3GB for any Samsung fan though.

I considered it but non-removeable battery and no SD card were my dealbreakers. I'd also need to start getting USB-C chargers. That plus I didnt want to spend $100 on a phone.

Thanks! I was surprised to learn that one did not have an SD card slot. Don't mind risking damage doing my own battery replacements at home. But no SD card is a huge turn off as I spend entire days out of range of cell towers and need to pre-load content before heading out to the sticks.

Airtime is linked to to sim/IMEI of phone, it's not a separate card.
