i literally just did this today, but from an older link. Their was a landing page with some sort of code to show the associate at CS desk (I guess). I saved this on my phone. However once I made an account (last week), paid my $45 and logged in, that page was changed to a page showing my membership # and I couldn't get the old page back. I went to pick up my membership card, and mentioned there should be a 45 GC on my account to the CS lady. She said if there is it will be applied when you check out. Well sure enough, I check out and there's no discount. I left just thinking maybe the promo had ended or something and not wanting to hassle with it. Any tips? is it too late now?

Also now that I'm logged into my Sam's account if I click that link in the OP I get just get the normal Sam's website.

The ability to scan and shop with your phone and not have to wait in long lines is a live saver. Worth the $45 even without the gift card. Lines were crazy long when the pandemic first hit.

Just my experience. Walk right in store. Only pull membership card at checkout to start transaction. Workers randomly check 3-4 items against receipt when walking out.

My Sam's Club always checks membership at the door.
They also check practically every item in the cart against your receipt when you leave. Always long lines to leave the store (after check-out). Stand there with melting frozen foods. Such a dumb, frustrating and poorly-designed system.

It is super easy to just sign up for a new membership though, just use a different email address.
I know I will be signing up for this, my plus membership is about to expire and it is just not worth the extra cost. I used to make more than the membership cost in 2% back savings but a costco was built nearby and I just do not go to sams as much.
