Great game but if you're hesitant to take a huge blind leap into such an expensive and complex game that you may not end up enjoying, I would suggest picking up Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion first. It's a fraction of the price for about the same fraction of the content. But it does a great job of teaching you how to play the game (way better than the big box Gloomhaven) and gives you a decent taste of what you'll find in its big brother without having to fork over about $90 or more. And it's its own standalone campaign with brand new characters and enemies that you can then bring over to Gloomhaven if you decide to pick it up.
There is also a great computer version of this game on steam. 20 bucks and a very accurate translation. It skips a lot of the setup and record keeping though, which is one of the biggest weaknesses of the physical game.
It cannot be understated how absolutely massive this thing is. The setup itself can easily take upwards 10-15 minutes each scenario, and if you are extremely disorganized it will be an absolute disaster. You will also need quite a lot of table space for everything if you are playing with more than 2 people.

I would not recommend this to casuals unless your group enjoys DnD type games

There are some really good videos on Youtube.

I have bought two bead containers for tokens and enemy standees from walmart and an expandable file folder for the map tiles. That makes a big difference.

There is a free app, Gloomhaven Helper, that replaces several of the fiddly aspects of the game.

This price is a real deal.

Man probably won't get to it for a few years but it's not going to get cheaper, if anything I can see the price climbing in time due to inflation. Decisions decisions.

I am a fan of Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion due to how quick it is to setup by using the map book vs having to setup the board like in this version. So if you don't have time to setup a bigger game definitely check out Jaws of the Lion.

Awesome! *fires up delorean*

Hey! It was $40 a month ago, and I'd already used my target circle coupon. Einstein is a very upset dog now, he was looking forward to this deal. Do you know how much that plutonium cost?
