Someone who would want the unlimited original quality Photos storage benefit offered by Google until Jan 31st 2022 [google.com], and high quality indefinitely (no announced end date) afterword.

Google Photos announced they would start counting photos uploads against storage after June 1st, 2021 [google.com]. I take a LOT of photos/video and upload a lot onto the platform, even in high quality it is over 4TB uploaded. The storage benefit on Pixel phones are by device, not by account. Also you don't have to actually take the photos on the phone to upload them, just have them on the device. No problem for me especially since I'm loading upwards of 30GB at a time.

I don't mind the people saying "but it's the cloud", and I do have other backups, but the stellar object recognition, mapping of photos, and power of the service they offer can't be beat in my opinion.

Just because the phone loses updates does not mean it stops functioning. Most phones from other manufacturers rarely get updates after the first year, and some never do.

I've used my Pixel 2 and a USB-C to HDMI adapter to play local media on a television. Old as hell, but still snappy.
Did Google even update the camera since the Pixel 2? IIRC, the Pixel 4 was still using the same sensor.

Just curious, why?
He's actually serious. The Pixel 3 gets gunk build-up in the USB-C port. I don't know WHY this isn't affecting other phones.

Don't understand what's up with people and updates. I'm fine with no updates as long as the phone isn't buggy and the OS functions well.

I got an essentially brand new (new box, all accessories still wrapped, etc) S10+ out of this 20% off sale last February for like $350. The only issue it had for like new condition was someone obviously opened it and scratched a kinda bad scratch in the screen...protector which was pre-installed by Samsung and easily removed by me thus eliminating the scratch. 14 months later the gorilla glass 6 still looks like it did the day I peeled off the protector. And the phone is going to get Android 12 next year.

I was hoping to get a similar deal on an S20 out of this sale but no dice. I guess I got lucky last year. if the s22 is as garbage as the S21 is I might be going to something other than Samsung

Many game on phones and many like fortnite drops out of date phones you can play on. Can sideload but fortnite updates nonstop so nonstop sideloading gets intense. Plus security updates stop and they tend to slow phones down end of life updates so you upgrade...

Is this true and accurate?. Would I be able to transfer my photos to the pixel and then use google photos to upload to the cloud after the deadline?
If that is the case, it'll be worth it to buy the phone just for that. It's a little inconvenience but if I can retain my unlimited storage. I would totally buy this for $100.

Pixel 2XL still going strong
Yes mine too except it has a terrible tendency to crack. I have paid $200+ twice already to have the screen replaced. I am on a device right now which has hairline cracks in two corners. Worst screen hardness ever.

Yeah, they don't care (yet). You can even upload RAW files from a DSLR. Obviously an original Pixel would be better for this, since it has unlimited, original quality for life (rather than compressed "high quality"). At least until they check to see if it was actually taken on the phone...

I have the 2xl and I love it. Let me tell you this thing has been through the ringer. Last spring I took my kids kayaking and forgot to put it in a waterproof anything. Needless to say I went under water in the raging river with my phone and everything else. Seriously under. Even with a cracked screen, this phone still kept it's water resistance and I am still using it to this day. Every once in awhile since then it flashes a green screen, but it only lasts a second and it's rare - This is the BEST phone I have ever had. I'm only buying this 3xl to keep for if this 2xl ever does poop out. If this was for the 2xl I'd buy it too!

Thanks, I just ordered the XL 64gb new from Amazon for $185. I shot with a Sony A7R3. It's going to be painful but I'm going to try it out. Upload my A7R3 photos to the Pixel and then uplooad to Google Photo with original quality.

I bought the Pixel 3 last night.

I didn't see this listed but want to verify for anyone who already received the Pixel 3 from Woot. Does it come with the USB to USB-C adapter?
