Best Chromebook money can buy if you don't care about battery life.

Edit: if you are not heavy mobile.

I am returning the one i purchased about 2 weeks ago for 539 + Tax, and just bought this for 479.40 + Tax = 516.55.
Thanks OP.

By the way, whoever has this Chromebook, do you have any issues with the screen brightness that weirdly adjust itself? sometimes it gets so bright when i haven't even touched anything.
and it might be the ChromeOS issue, but when I close the lid, it was supposed to go to the Sleepmode, then I can wake it up with my finger print, however, it just restarts itself and I can't find a setting related to this issue. It sometimes happens when the laptop has enough battery though.

Please chime in if you know about the issues I mentioned here.

just FYI. you can never ever stream 4K contents on this Chromebook other than the Youtube's 2160P contents. Netflix won't work at 4k which is a huge flaw for me. I've even tried the Edge browser by using Linux. but didn't get it to work. so I am still not sure what I can use this Chromebook for. Well I don't use this for any office work so. Just for a media consumption, this isn't the one. I'd rather use my Tab S7+ which can play 1080P HDR+ contents from Netflix as a Netflix Certified device.

With respect, what does heavy mobile mean?

Also, I think people have talked about some kind of modding(?) you can do on Chromebooks... Was that for linux or something? Or is there some limitation normally with the play store?
I own this and it is my first Chromebook. Battery is pretty bad by modern standards but I work at home so battery life is a non issue. It's not like I have to work on this thing while plugged in but it is the one device I have think about throwing on a charger proactively.

Heavy Mobile = On the go.

Rolled the dice and bought this. I'm a little worried about the battery life, but was in the market for a chromebook and this price is lower than a C434 or C436.
Look at the 20,000 battery back from Samsung with PD. I did that so that I could work around the house during the day (patio etc).

I can only get $499 with a trade in, which I don't have. It reverts to $799 without a trade in. Any clues where I am going wrong?

I purchased a .edu account off eBay, the credentials were delivered within seconds, I signed up for the education program, and my Chromebook will be here Thursday.
You mean you purchased email address with edu off eBay ? Please elaborate

I was able to get a price difference refund with a screenshot of the new price and my account info. Worth the effort.

You nailed it. Paid $4.00 and they emailed me the login and password for an email address ending with .edu. Went right over to Samsung and registered using it, got the discount right away.

Hope you changed the password before you registered on Samsung....otherwise someone on ebay knows your email address and password!!

Strangely I needed the .edu email address to get access to Samsung's special pricing, but during checkout it allowed me to use any email address I wanted to.

I realize this edu email valid for less than 1 year since you are not the only one use this email and seller can reset the account via the SMS/phone.

13.3 inch screen featuring 4k is going to heavily under utilized, unless your profession demands color accurate work on the go, alongside the best resolution available currently; you might want to consider that due to battery longevity. YMMV due to battery consumption and media purposes. Aside from that, this is a very premium chassis and of course has premium 'thin and light' specs to match it. Difference between 1st gen and 2nd gen is going to be very minimal for I would say most users, as the processors are still in the U line and the screen resolution on 2nd gen goes down to 1080p for battery flexing purposes. Having said that Chrome OS is very user friendly, and for probably 85% of workloads, everything can be done. All in all aside from the Acer & Google Premium Chromebooks, this is definitely one to consider.

there is more than likely an ambient sensor you can turn off in the settings.
