The true sinewave version of this I bought for $100 on a slickdeal at b&h video... lowest I've seen. This is a pretty standard but slickdeal if you need the device and don't mind simulated sinewave

Do they make better replacement batteries for older units yet? I have a couple APC units where the battery has gone bad (just squeals non-stop if turned on). I want to keep using them though but replacement batteries are not cheap

It's not meant to be a generator. It's meant to give you time to turn off your equipment properly rather than everything abruptly losing power. But if you have a unit with your modem and router plugged into the battery then you can get some pretty long runtime of internet while power is out assuming you have a laptop that started with full battery. I was able to continue life as normal when my power went out for about an hour during one storm because the two things connected to the UPS were low-power devices

Nice, if it fits your need of 1000va. I usually use the 1500.
For $109 it is not bad. We do get 1500va for about 150~ at times.
