Not too bad. But for 20 more you could get the 870 with a small bump in speed and also brand new.

I think most sane people would NEVER buy a refurb HDD, but I just don't know about a refurb SSD

Yeah and it's also "refurbished". Not worth the savings

Would you just plan on burning it up to do the plotting? I was reading that the consumer ssd's get eaten up pretty quickly.

Last time these popped up it was just a used drive. Nothing to refurb on an ssd. People loaded Samsung Magician to see the usage on the drive and it was generally pretty low.

I bought the EVO 970 Plus nvme 500GB refurb recently and it was very well package. It had 12 hours on time, 4 power cycle and 400GB written.

You would likely never notice the difference, unless you were running synthetic benchmarks on the right motherboard. That doesn't seem worth $20 to me.

Only if you get an enclosure that supports trim on the drive. Otherwise your SSD will progressively slow down with use until reformatted. I've only found a few enclosures from StarTech that support SSD disk trimming. Others may exist, too, but I haven't found any.
