Yes. They shake and flex much easier than a full tripod. They are generally less adjustable, and the heads slide more easily and move less fluidly. Plus the height is less.

It really depends what you're doing. If you have a cheaper camera with a cheaper lens. (Less than 50 mpx, less than ~1k lens), and you aren't doing landscapes in windy conditions, then this should be just fine for most things.

But when you have a bigger, nicer setup, and are in tougher conditions, it's really not worth saving a buck on these tripods. Not worth it. A nice tripod lasts many many years.

This tripod is for light setups in light conditions.

For stability ratings, take a look at thecentercolumn website ratings. This is near the bottom even for travel tripods.

Considering returning the Manfrotto 290 Light w/ mini ball head I just got from KEH.

Goes up to the same height, but only 4kg weight limit, and aluminum. This looks like it might be better.

I've been using this tripod for a little over a year now. Packs down small, very lightweight, and can hold my full frame with a descent size zoom lens. It's a great value for a travel tripod.

Ordered as an upgrade over a Benro TSL08, which I've found to flex a little too much under the weight of some of my full frame gear. Hoping this will do better

Looks like a solid deal on a fairly lightweight and capable tri-pod. Always nice to shed weight w/o giving up functionality with camera gear.

Any of you know if the head is removable? Would like to be able to use a beefier head when I'm using heavier gear

I'm pretty new to photography, are there any downsides to a travel tripod like this?

Wirecutter felt this model wasn't as stable as comptetitors, but for this price I'm thinking it could be worth it...

Not as stable if you are working on shoots or sets with people around who can bump it. Meant to be very light for a person to bring to locations on trips, but not to leave too unguarded.

I have this tripod (in orange). It's fantastic. Super lightweight and sturdy. I think the heaviest rig I've put on it is my Canon D70 and a 24-70, and it works like a champ every time. I bought mine for just under 200 dollars. Don't sleep on this deal.

At this price, no. Good brand name, lightweight, converts to a monopod too. Really stellar deal for someone getting into photography.

Thanks everyone, I'm using a relatively light full frame (a7c) so I think this tripod will be a good choice for me.

Why they are made in such flashy colors?

If they are in black/grey, I might already pull the trigger

Something I read that people hate about these, is the twist locks instead of latches. Also all the controls feel the same, so you can't tell them apart just by feel in-hand.
