They actually are super efficient. Uses less than 60w and can be run on a Ryovi 18v battery inverter.
A cooler with ice has some advantages but these ecoolers are fantastic.

I ended up getting a cheap mini fridge for a spare and use my massimo e-cooler for camping or outdoor parties only.

Ice melts. I can go dry camping in the middle of nowhere and with this and my solar panel all my food stays cold. Youre allso able to pack more stuff if you don't need to account for the ice. Stuff doesn't get soggy. Plus it freezes too so you can bring ice cream.

One other thing to consider... these types of fridges are very popular in the overland expedition world. Most of those people get an ARB or Pingel version and spend nearly a grand on their fridges. These are similar (but definitely not as good of a compressor) for a quarter of the price. That's the whole idea of SD isn't it?

Compressor fridges are much better than thermoelectric coolers because they use much less electricity and can maintain any temperature. Themoelectric ones can only get about ~30 degrees below the ambient temperature so on an 80 degree day you could only get the fridge down to ~50 and that's not even worth it.
