During the recent Amazon Warehouse 20% off deal I bought a Graco paint sprayer. While looking for paint to use with it I found this at Lowes for $13.50 for 5 gallons. That works out to $2.70 a gallon. Haven't sprayed with it yet so can't tell you how good or bad the paint is, (the reviews show 4 stars but who knows, for $2.70 a gallon I'll give it a shot) but thought I would share in case anyone else could use.

Found stock with Brickseek as online I see "This item is unavailable for purchase online" Brickseek stock was accurate for me.

Most expensive paints come as primer and paint combination.
Most quality paints come as separate primer and paint, it's not possible to make a combined product without significantly compromising quality and performance.

You may find combined products to be "expensive" but they are "cheap" products.

Umm, no? There is a reason flat paint is normally used on walls. Can't imagine what you could be doing to get flat paint "dirty".

Make your own primer. Mix 1 part of this paint and1 part water. Mix well. You got primer.
That does not make "primer", just bad paint.

Primer is a completely different formulation, to do a decent job you need both. That's why the combination products don't work well.

Trust me, after 30 years in the rental business I've seen everything from buggers to sperm and chocolate. Dead people and plain aholes.

Is this just for the "Antique White" variant or other base shades as well? The Antique White looks very yellow/cream colored.

This is a tintable white.

So you tint the antique white vs an extra white or other more neutral base? I'm wanting to use this as a ceiling paint is the reason I ask, so looking for white, not colored.

The Lowe's link takes you to item Item #935357 which is the antique white variant. Are other shades of the product also clearance priced? I grabbed a bucket of extra white but it rang up full price, then checked the item number and grabbed the antique white which rang up for the $13.50 price.

Oh, rentals are another matter entirely. I was referring to home residential use, since most people are painting their own homes.

Yes, the offer is just for the Antique White. You may be able to get them to tint it, but since it is not a tint base, they will not be able to match colors. So if you wanted "some blue" for example, they may be willing to do that, but would not be able to match a particular shade of blue.

Make sure it says "935357" , UPC 042397613586 and "Antique White" on the bucket. I noticed some that looked to be relabeled (you could see a new label applied over old) that were ringing up full price at the store I visited.

I highly recommend flat paint for ceilings

Unless you're a slum lord or paint for a slum lord i would not recommend flat paint even this cheap lol.
Yeah I think that was understood honestly. The vast majority of the time ceilings will be flat LOL. nodSmilie I'm sure Loudog was referring to walls etc. and not ceilings.

LMAOLMAOLMAO No. Please don't listen to this. Even a cursory read about the composition of paint vs. primer would show you that this is not the case. I mean just comparing Product and Safety data sheets makes this obvious. Not to mention the variety of primers suited to different tasks. Bonding, elastomeric, wood, metal, etching, interior, exterior, and many more. If you're going to give garbage/misleading advice, maybe better to not give any advice at all? Come on man. There are people who don't know any better and are just looking for reasonable advice.

Holy SH*T man. When will people realize that you get what you pay for with paint??

Volume solids: 26%...

[paintdocs.com]I guess it's a good deal due to the price, but it's a crap product. This might be good for painting the inside facing part of siding? Or painting some other surface that's not really going to be seen much? That's about all that comes to mind.

Sorry, I thought this was a tintable white but it is in fact antique white. I am still going to take one back and have it tinted (hopefully) as they said when I bought it I could come back later and have it tinted with the receipt. I guess one would just have to account for a very slight bit of yellow in antique white? IDK we'll see.
