american express offer Happy Cards: Gift Cards With More Freedom And More Options $85

My Purchase in April 2021 did not qualify (a different AmEx card). The reason is the charge was from "Giftcards.com" instead of happycard.com. Chatted with CSR and filed a ticket. But the ticket came back as "denied" as well. AmEx sucks!
Anyone else got the same issue?
You don't understand. There are 2 types of happy cards. The original kind were all treated as credit cards at physical locations and generally could not be used online. The second type to come along a year ago or so required online redemption at the happy site for gift cards at the listed retailers. Those cards can generally used online at the respective retailer.

But AmEx customer service was not this bad before.ā
1. The 1st type cards are from happycards.com (and same merchant shows up in AMEX statement) and you will get a $15 statement credit from Amex (I got this multiple years). These cards CANNOT be used online, but I did not have any problem in B&M stores.
2. The second type which requires online redemption is sold from a sister company giftcardmall.com even though they are listed in happycards.com website. Please see the link https://happycards.com/more-great-gift-cards/. While these cards CAN be used online, they charge on the credit card statement does NOT come from happycards.com and so you will NOT get the $15 statement credit automatically. Amex most likely will deny this if you contact CSR, so YMMV. If you are planning to use these gift cards online then stay away.

edit: received email from AmEx stating that I had redeemed the promo before I received the gift card
