Prices are coming down. I'd say this is a fair price, and only slightly more than pre-pandemic.

How do these compare to the poweblock or bow flex adjustables?

Better since it's a more traditional design and shape. These are the best on the market for this weight range and price.

I'm using the JAXJOX and I love them but they have less weight increments and cost $399. If they weren't on-sale for slightly less than the Core dumbbells when I got them I would have went for the Core, but I figured I'd give them a try since there was no pandemic inflation.

On second thought though the JAXJOX do have metal handles and are maybe the most like a traditional set of dumbbells of any of these adjustable pairs. They're also high-tech and so far surprisingly reliable. To top it off the design and build quality are also among the best.

Edit: I was going to add a link. It appears JAXJOX raised the price of their dumbbells to $499. I guess I got a deal since the MSRP used to be $449. I'll be ecstatic if these last more than a couple of years. So far I don't see any flaws that would affect the longevity, but the high-tech nature initially had me concerned.

Here is the comparison with bow flex, I was considering bow flex before, but it just looks too buggy. I like how corehome looks when it was only 5 pounds, much smaller.

Don't have experience with these but have powerblocks and had bow flex. I prefer powerblocks between the 2 as bow flex was way to big at light weights, and powerblocks you don't have to worry about something happening down the line with a mechanism breaking to change weights. Also like the fact I can add weight if need be.

Reasons I love my Core Home Fitness dumbbells:
- Compact size. Unlike many of its competitors, these dumbells pack as much weight into a small space as is reasonable possible. The only thing better would be a set of fixed dumbbells.
- Smooth operation. Selecting weights by rotating the handles is the way to go. The only problem I've run into is the tendency of the weights to snag when lifting it from the carrier, causing the entire carrier to lift up, too. A few ziplocks, tying the carrier down, solved that problem.
- Build quality. Materials and construction are first rate. These will last me a lifetime.

The only problem that I've run into is that I have them set up so that (when I'm picking them up by facing them) I can rotate both hands wrist inward to increase the weights or rotate both hands wrist outward to decrease the weights. This means that the dumbbells need to be put back in the same orientation as when they were picked up. However, there are no distinguishing marks on the dumbbells, so sometimes I replace them with one side or the other turned around. I meant to color code the ends to avoid this mistake, but I haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

Shout out to OP. I already purchased this dumbbell set middle of last year after being on their waiting list for over a month since weights were near impossible to get. I've been super happy with these dumbbells. The grips, the selector system, and the form of them are all very similar to traditional dumbbells unlike so many of the others that I compared to. I paid $350 last year with free shipping. I've been waiting for the stand to go on sale and this code works to take about $22 off of the purchase price. So I was able to scoop the stand to go with this awesome set of dumbbells.

Power blocks are super durable and expandable. Heard good things about these and would def get these over the Bowflex, due to durability issues. If you need more than 50 lbs, go with the powerblocks (as long they are the EXP version).
