A good price if actually manufactured in Germany.... but, as Wiha continues to outsource to Vietnam, China, etc. and like prior Craftsman, GearWrench, etc., where will the warranty replacements be manufactured?

Note: According to KC Tools [kctoolco.com], the premier German tool distributor that has dropped several Wiha models that were outsourced elsewhere, this same model they sell is manufactured in Germany.

Agreed. Fantastic German brand name diluting themselves by selling made in Taiwan sockets. Sadface.

Although I thumbed up this deal, it is increasingly concerning that in the future, warranty replacements from Wiha will follow other prior manufactures and be with much cheaper Chinese knock offs.... after all, we paid the initial premium for German manufacturing. And since Wiha has already done this (as with the Wiha 75989 outsourced to China), the opinion is well founded.

From the derogatory PM's I receive, including one from an admin account, I can also assure anyone that the down votes are from the Chinese shills that increasingly stalk this site. They are also aware that creating controversy moves their post upwards to at least popular for more traffic.

I'm disappointed a bit in their moving some of their stuff to Taiwan and China, but to be fair on Vietnam: they actually own that factory, it's not outsourced.

The labor is outsourced.

Nobody noticed a drop in price for the savings of moving manufacturing out of Germany for cheaper labor.

If sales do not drop, manufacturing will continue to leave Germany and any future warranty claims will be replaced with other than German manufacturing that you/I initially paid for. For my money today, it is Knipex or Klein for tomorrow.

Well by your definition all labor is outsourced I guess. They own the factory and hire the workers. That's the same in Germany as in Vietnam.

It's also funny you go on this rant about Wiha and then bring up Klein like they haven't done the exact same thing.

You are playing semantics... but if you have examples of Klein tools that are outsourced to China while claiming made in the USA as Wiha did as made in Germany, please post them.

What you call a rant is a matter of company integrity.... I am not paying a premium for siht made in China and sold as made in Germany, or for future warranty replacements from elsewhere after paying the premium for made in Germany.

If you don't get it, you are not a consumer for quality tools.

Everywhere I look shows that these are made in Germany. Where are people seeing that they aren't?

Every tool I have gotten from them recently is still German, except buying the long shaft precision screwdriver set that was $18 on Amazon recently and it's from Poland.

I'm not playing semantics, outsourced literally means "outside sourcing", meaning you source to an outside company. If you own the factory and hire the workers, that is not outsourcing by any definition.

And what tools exactly is Wiha claiming are made in Germany that are not? All of their products carry COA on their labels. Pretty sure you are making stuff up now. Like Wiha, Klein has shifted some tool production to Taiwan and China, and like Wiha, they label the COA on the package.

Just people talking out their butts. Their hex keys and screw drivers are all made in Germany. Bits, pliers and cutters are made at their factory in Vietnam, and sockets/ratchets (other than VDE, those are German), and some nut drivers are made by a 3rd party in Taiwan. Shears, some pouches/bags, and a few other odd-ball items are all that they have made in China.

edit: should add, measuring tools are made in Switzerland, and some tools are made in Poland, both at Wiha owned factories. You can see all of their owned and operated facilities here: https://www.wiha.com/int/en/compa...worldwide/

I already gave an example of the Wiha product we purchased that was made in China, but sold as made in Germany.... (Wiha 75989) .... done with the ongoing ignorance and/or China shilling in this thread..... Enjoy....

The point was that other Wiha products are now outsourced to Vietnam, China, etc., so any warranty in the future for a premium price paid now for made in Germany.... may very well be with a tool made in China or elsewhere.
