I have almost a dozen B&D 20V tools, including most of the Matrix system w/Attachments, Blower and Chainsaw.

For the casual homeowner, with occasional usage, like me, they are great. (The Matrix system has the added advantage of taking up a LOT less space than individual tools, also).

I have 4x 20V batteries, most of them 3aH, and they are GREAT. And they have an added BONUS of being compatible with adaptors for RYOBI and Craftsman V20 tools, so I can (and have) easily picked up bargain tools from those lines, without having to change batteries.

I'd take the B&D any minute over HART, unless the HART line was at a throw away price. (Waay too many limitations, with HART, as a product line. And you are risking everything on Walmart keeping the line going).
Besides the Hart being like $50 more, I find the circular saw more useful than the impact driver for my use. If one really needs an impact driver, one could buy the Black+Decker impact driver for $49. Pretty much you get 5 tools with Black+Decker over 4 tools with Hart at the same price of the Hart $138. Also I believe Black+Decker has been around much longer and had a much larger battery eco-system than Hart. Hart has been around for a minute and I don't know how long their future will be with their special batteries. Not hating on Hart or other lesser name brands but they are very new. We know Black+Decker will always be around in the future. Thinking about future battery replacements?

Black+Decker has a huge library of tools that use that 20V battery system.

While I already have a Craftsman reciprocating saw and Craftsman circular saw, they are both corded and that limits my portability. It isn't horrible to use a cord but not as convenient. I really don't want to spend big bucks for an expensive big name brand either. I am very interested in getting this power tool combo kit. Plus I am also interested in getting the Black+Decker LST300 20-Volt Max Lithium String Trimmer & Edger so it makes little more sense to go into the Black+Decker 20V MAX battery system.

Ya I have the saw, drill, leaf blower, trimmer/edger , AND vacum cleaner. Great versatile battery system.

I've used the circular saw less than 10 times but the drill over 50 or 100 over the last 5 years. Honestly though the HART system for $138 might be better, that ecosystem is better. The B&D trimmer only uses 0.065 string and so I've eventually replaced the drill and trimmer so it might be better to just get good quality the first time or at least not the worst. The HART or one of the others seem a bit higher tier. The HART even has a USB charger off their batteries.

You're right, I guess the only weak point is the drill because of the 3/8 chuck (when routing ethernet through house need to make bigger holes, especially in masonry) and low torque. Getting the other tools and 2 batteries does make it worthwhile because of access to the garden and house tools too. Otherwise once budgeting for another drill not sure if still good.

You could get a porter cable drill for $40+ since batteries compatible with B&D with a notch mod and than I think you'd be equivalent with the Hart deal but still in the B&D ecosystem and have more tools ( maybe even sell the B&D drill?):

Yea. I got a 19.2 volt craftsman 1/2" chuck drill/driver from Sears when they were great with Craftsman and I love it (still works great) but I think that battery system is pretty much done. When this 19.2 volt battery is done, I am gonna need a new battery drill/driver. Lowes has the expensive 20 volt craftsman but I am willing to try another brand like black+decker or ryobi that is on sale. I have powerful corded power tools so I really don't need real powerful expensive battery power tools. I think I will be happy with a cheap black+decker or ryobi power tool set.

I'd be on this if the drill/driver were a 1/2" chuck.

95% of "Casual" / Homeowners don't need a 1/2" chuck. Why do you need it? (or just want to upgrade?)

I've had this kit for years and abused it to no end. The circular saw does have a smaller blade 5" or so, the gears stripped after a few years with use but not much. Recip Saw i've used and used in conditions where if i had a nicer one i would have used a different tool. It's nice to have something where you know if it breaks you can go out and buy a replacement and keep going without worry. Since then i have added, a pole saw, hedge trimmer, and a chain saw. They are not perfect but for being outside tools they do a great job. I also got "aftermarket" batteries like 9ah so that greatly extended my run time. I've been trying to move everything over to Ryobi, but it's hard when some of the BD tools can be bought new on clearance for almost nothing.

Thanks, bought one set. I have various B&D tools, including 2 string trimmers, blower, hedge trimmer, drill/driver, work light, and five 20V batteries.

Here's what I did. I have the same exact 19.2v craftsman but the batteries eventually failed. I got this exact b&d set and got an adapter to use BD batteries in my craftsman 19.2 tools. Look on eBay for the adapter.

The BD circular saw is very weak. I couldn't finish cutting a 3/4 plywood with it.
