Lowest price I've seen ever. Been wanting one and going to try it out. Also it had a coupon for 10% off TAKETEN.

This paired with torque(app), best $20 you'll spend on your vehicles. Obviously a code scanner but where it really shines is logging fuel trim and misfires that might not trigger CEL. Saved me lots of headaches.
According to amazon, looks like I ordered this back in 2014 for $23.99.

I have no recollection of this laugh out loud
I literally just bought this two days ago to use with Torque Pro. It works perfectly and is by far the cheapest and most effective way to get into the whole obd scanning business. I tried BlueDriver before and it was a $100 lump of plastic from Torque Pro's point of view, and I wasn't about to go spending another $100 on yet another scanner that also won't work. But, even at $20 not on sale, this Bafx scanner should be an embarrassment to the other obd scanner manufacturers for how much more reasonably priced and still effective solution this is.

I've been using one of these off and on for years. I don't leave it in all the time, though I certainly could, but as a code reader/clearer, it serves it's purpose. So yeah, I use it for the occasional diag.

There's a bit of a trick to pairing it up the first time, you have to be quick on the draw, but after that, it's cool.

You cannot "quickly" pass an emissions test as your car will not have completed the readiness tests and will thus show up as an error code itself.
That varies by state. In Texas, you are allowed up to 2 monitors to not be ready: Link [texas.gov]

For vehicles year model 1996 – 2000, we allow two (2) non-continuous monitors to be Not Ready and still pass the test, but three (3) or more Not Ready's will cause the vehicle to fail.

So yes, you can clear a Check Engine Light, have monitors in the 'Not Ready' state, and still pass. I've done it.

After the check engine light clears, find a 10-mile stretch of local freeway. Drive a loop, with the stint between exits being your "city" drive. Do this 2-3 times and you are fully reset.
Yeah, tried that whole routine 2 years ago when I had just replaced a battery right before smog. Theoretically works, realistically did not in my case.

I will take your word for it. In my case I specifically followed posted steps on how to get it to be ready. After 2 more fails I just drove it for 300 miles per the smog techs recommendation and it quickly passed. Realistically though, the readiness test is designed to put your car through its regular paces. Might there be a very specific scenario where you would not re-trigger you check engine light getting it to be ready? Maybe, but I would not say its an argument to buy something. Maybe I am just jaded by the dumb state of CA being so strict on anything. Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but most of my check engine lights have come back very quickly and I would never think I would reset and get away with passing.

Yes, CA being strict is tough. I think it varies by car manf as well. At least one of the readiness indicators said drive 50 miles to fully clear it. Even after doing so, I had to replace Oxygen sensors to get them to ever go ready.

What is the Torque app everyone is talking about? I looked it up on the Play Store, is it the Torque app that has two different versions? Lite and Pro?
I have this OBD reader and use the Torque App. It communicates with the OBD reader and lets you read the codes. The Lite version will be fine for most people who want to clear codes and look a few parameters, but the Pro unlocks a few extras.

Since the Lite is free, I'd say just get the Lite and see if it works for you.

Yeah, OP is either Awol or a douche. I wasted my time revisting this deal 3 times to see deal was back up. 100s or 1000s of other people have too.

I was thinking the Lite was locked behind a paywall rendering it useless, but I will give it a try. Thank you for the great advice.

Even though I missed the wave on this deal, I'm still interested in this adapter. Could someone who has this connected with Torque go to the main Torque screen->Adapter Status->Adapter PID read speed and tell me how many PIDs/second this one pulls? Wanna know if it's an upgrade from my old cheapie.
