Makita 18V X2 (36V) LXT® Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Couple Shaft Power Head with 17" String Trimmer Attachment + free 5ah battery: $309

I've been in the market for a 36V Makita Power Head plus trimmer and this is the best price I've found in the last couple of months. Not smoking hot, but unload the free battery for $40-50 and it's pretty good, especially since it's the 17" trimmer and not the more common 15" trimmer head... good enough for a cheapo like me to bite.

Free battery promotion ends 4/30 (tomorrow).

If you wait, this might become clearance. 40V tools are starting to ship.

This is the bump-feed head that comes on all their trimmers. What I like about it is the standard M10 arbor so I can put aftermarket heads on it if I wanted.

I don't see Makita clearancing their LXT line anytime soon. Heck, they're still selling 12V stuff. Hope I'm wrong, because I'm addicted and would love to get some great deals. laugh out loud

It appears they are targeting their 40V line to pros. I don't think their 18V line is going away -- not with its enormous ecosystem of tools.

So weird that they're only including 1 battery when this thing takes 2.

The double battery mitre saw and double battery blower have already been clearanced. Maybe it will just be certain tools. We will see.

I don't believe the 40v batteries are backwards compatible, like FlexVolt.

Even the bump feed heads have a quick set built in, you quarter turn the bump feed run your string through and wind the string without having to take the head off.

I'm considering this deal. Can you give an example of an aftermarket head that would work with this?

Yeah that's what I was wondering I will never own any other type of trimmer head as the one you described.
