Sorry, but there was never a similar I5 for $300 during BF.

The 11th Gen WERE shipping during BF, but the deals were only on the 10th Gen.
Huge Generational Difference.

The SCREEN on this laptop is actually a quality screen in both NITS and Resolution.
The BF deals did not have this quality screen....

The BUILD Quality for the mid-tier laptops, this is a high-quality build with better chassis, keyboard, trackpad, etc.. etc....

The SSDs were smaller on bottom-tier....

And no....In General, there were not any long-standing deals for any i5s at $300. Perhaps a 5-minute deal, but those were the older i3s....Any i5 deal that was not OOS in under 5minutes for the i5 was closer to $350.

And if you are lucky to have the AMEX deal, then this is only $420....
Blowing away even BF deals if you have the AMEX deal.

No, it is not high at all and in fact one of the cheapest price. And What is that idiotic logic of paying over $500 for a 14 incher? You know, there are 14 incher costing $2000 as well. The Price of a Laptop is not just decided by the Screen size.

It says "Aluminum Exterior Shell" under Specs but I'm pretty sure it's plastic with aluminum color. I have the laptop now and it doesn't seem like aluminum.

There was just a similar deal to this not long ago. May have been 13.3 inch though. It was definitely the nice aluminum shell. Same 300 nit screen. I thought this one was same aluminum. That would be a deal breaker for me too.

It has to be $500 including tax, not pre-tax. So, its not really possible to get it below that price no matter what unless you are using 15% coupon or something. How do i know? literally confirmed with the amex representative first hand before canceling Mcafee subscription.

Got and used the offer on my no annual fee Amex Everyday Card.

One thing to try is the list of offers available to add is limited to 100, so I would add a bunch of trash ones to my card to see if I can clear room for good offers.

I am typing from the same laptop as above ordered from previous thread. As I see it in person, this laptop is part plastic, part aluminium. To be precise, the bezels besides the screen(inside) is plastic and the only other place that's plastic is the laptop base cover(outer shell). Everything else is solid aluminium. I am not very sure of the trackpad but i am for now assuming that it may be plastic but doesn't feel all that flimsy. Having said that at this price range, even if its just the outer shell(screen) and the keyboard chassis (inner side) that's aluminium, it still punches way above its weight in terms of bang for the buck especially after factoring in $100 off Amex offer
