I had purchased the 16 zone for my 8 zone home but glad i did because then i moved a year later and my new house had 14 zones. I took it with me to the new house.
B-hyve is decent, not bad for first gen smart product. Their app used to really suck, it's a bit better looking and more intuitive now. Their GH integration by is notnthat great, have to say "ask b-hyve" before every command.
It also displays statistics such as run time for each zone, how much water used/saved per gallons, and soil moisture. It makes recommendations when setting up schedules too. You can define maps throughout your yard to see water coverage and what spots are missing.
Incredible step up from what I originally had. Highly recommend this product.

The fact that having physical buttons would allow my gardener to tune settings makes that as a more attractive proposition for covering my 6 zones that I do with my archaic Orbit system. Don't they pretty much provide the same, otherwise?
P.S. I'm in NorCal, so not sure if freezing is something I really would worry about
