How does this compare to getting an UV lamp and an OLED TV to watch beaches in the Maldives?

We do the Maldives frequently and love it. Wouldn't pay this much for 5 nights (we use points), but it's for the best that this does not include airfare. That's a hard trip to make in economy. Keep in mind you'd likely need a charter once you arrive in Male. Airfare can be expensive and even if you're booking with miles, you'll still be paying out of pocket for the charter to whichever island you stay at.

If you're going all the way out there, don't cheap out and forego an overwater villa. Beach villas are great but overwaters allow for snorkeling right out your back door.

Trying to find out if the seaplane transfer is included? The resort page states that:
"The instant you touch down at Velana International Airport, your every need is taken care of."
"Personal meet + greet at Velana International Airport & escorted transfer."
Doesn't mention anything about extra cost, makes it sound like it is part of the "premium all-inclusive" package"

Update: Not included. I went through the reservation process on the resort page to see what came up.

I stayed at the Luxor in October and it is as the end of the strip but it's only like a maybe 5 minute walk to the strip and the room wasn't too bad
I stayed at the Luxor and they upgraded my room for free and also got vip passes to their club since I stayed there. Always ask when checking in to a room at Vegas for upgrades and stuff. Doesn't hurt to ask.

lol @ asking this vs a vegas trip.

Vegas is a: you go for 3 nights and want to get the hell home trip. Its cheap and doable as a weekend trip

The Maldives is definitely a: you should go at least once in your lifetime-trip. Its insanely expensive, from the flights to everything you purchase on the islands but the experience is something else. You will want to do another 5 nights in another location so you're not wasting all that time flying. I recommend doing 5 nights somewhere in Asia, then 5 nights in the Maldives. Also, HIGHLY recommend booking flights using points.

When I say insanely expensive, I'm not kidding. Everything is obviously up-charged there already, but on top of that, there's a fee and then tax charged on top of that fee. (When I was there, it was an additional 22% on top of the overpriced item, food, drink). Not only that, they still expect tips. I only glanced over this deal, but I'm guessing it only includes breakfast, dinner, and specific drinks as part of the "all-inclusive" package. Every resort you book, you will have to pay for the sea plane, it's pretty unavoidable.

So just a warning, expect to pay a lot of money when you are there unless you can strictly stick to what is part of the all-inclusive package. But IMO, it's definitely worth it once in your life. Five nights in the Maldives is about the perfect amount of time, otherwise, you start getting bored, unless you pay the extra money to do the excursions or activities. That's why I recommend doing 5-nights somewhere in Asia prior, lots of sightseeing there and then you just chill in the Maldives.

Oh, 100% do the over-water villa. Waking up and then just jumping into the clear-water ocean is just surreal.

edit: breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. Found on their site:
Breakfast, lunch + dinner is included in the premium all-inclusive offering. A selection of premium wines + spirits are also part of the package.

I used Singapore air, I believe it was 98k points each way for business class, each person. But every big credit card xfers to Singapore Air (Citi, Chase, Amex), so getting those points are pretty easy.

Each one-way flight in business class usually runs $5k+ for that flight back then, so 98k points was a steal. Haven't checked prices or point requirements lately.

This place or Las Vegas, for 5 days vacation?
If you're looking to explore some nature, fly in to LV and drive a few hours to get to southern Utah. Easy to spend a week there between Zion, Bryce, Arches, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and a ton of other amazing parts of the outdoors.

That's only if you visit between Jan-March. Which obviously is the dry season and the best time to go.

With flights, transfers, intro to scuba, a whale shark tour and a couple of meals out you're looking like 10k for a couple.

With jet lag and transfers you'll probably get to enjoy 2 days of the vacation. Not worth it for me, now if you pair this with a week liveaboard cruise then I'm game. After all it's probably a once in a lifetime trip. Not worth it for only 5 days.
If you have the money, do it, extra nights are 579. 1200 bucks and it's a 7 day deal. I went for 10 days and it drug out after day 6. I enjoyed everything I did. Spent s lot of money on things I shouldn't have. Got home and calculated it, 10 days, everything, fine dining, outings everyday, extra hotel services, rental equipment, tips, etc. I spent just over 22k.

When I went the trip for 2, 10 days, was 7000, spent 1500 more for over water pool villa. Flights and charters where around 3000. So spent around 8000 while there on daily stuff.
