How does this compare to getting an UV lamp and an OLED TV to watch beaches in the Maldives?

We do the Maldives frequently and love it. Wouldn't pay this much for 5 nights (we use points), but it's for the best that this does not include airfare. That's a hard trip to make in economy. Keep in mind you'd likely need a charter once you arrive in Male. Airfare can be expensive and even if you're booking with miles, you'll still be paying out of pocket for the charter to whichever island you stay at.

If you're going all the way out there, don't cheap out and forego an overwater villa. Beach villas are great but overwaters allow for snorkeling right out your back door.

That's a decent base price not knowing this resort. Be aware of the usual costs to get to the island via seaplane. Also don't carry much luggage they'll charge extra each way. Everything at the resort besides food will cost extra like massages, scuba, jet skis, etc...

All that said, if you can afford it ain't no place like it.
Its all inclusive

You can get M-F trip's flight plus say at the Luxor (which I'm told is in a bad spot at the end of the strip) for less than one night of this. Or maybe even leave Saturday too. Costco has good deals
I can't believe Maldives and Luxor Hotel came out as viable vacation destinations in the same post.

Really tempted by this for my anniversary next June, we were thinking Hawaii. Any ideas how I can get there with Delta miles?

Economy for that long? You into BDSM?
I don't know how long is the flight to Maldives, but I flew from JFK to Hong Kong then transfer to Malaysia in economy.

It's not a common vacation spot to most of the people you know. So when you get back they'll have to sit through your photo slide presentation and won't be able to interrupt with a funny story of when they were there.

That's basically what you're paying 8k extra for. Don't get me wrong it's gorgeous, white sand, turquoise water, tropical fish, friendly locals and unique cultures but when it comes down to it you could've gone to the Caribbean faster for a lot cheaper.

You'll still get all the same things I listed but chances are Dave from the office has been there too and you might even bump into Karen from HR.
I'd rather bump into Karen from HR then to bump into Karens in general.

For the same amount of money, you can live like a king in Thailand for couple weeks. There are plenty of beautiful islands in South Asia. I wouldn't go to Maldives unless you have money to burn or you absolutely need a once in a lifetime experience.
More like couple of months in Thailand.Applause

If you do economy, would recommend end Qatar as it currently still blocks middle seats. Has a layover in Doha but if you have the priority pass there's a lounge you can stay that has showers and refreshments

This is recommended way, much more reusable than wasting amost $3k on the trip. You're rock!

I picture the Maldives as similar to bora bora. The Caribbean is no match. The cost and travel time difference is worth it but you need to go for at least a week, if not longer. Bora bora was the most beautiful place I've ever seen.

The key for these short trips is to adjust to the time in advance. You may have to stay up all night or get a Rx for Ambien to sleep on the flight but adjust in advance so you arrive feeling like you're in local time.

Does this mean I can get a refund if I change my mind?
