I have a free ups account and was able to see this costco offer
Their old coupons always used to work on sale items at certain stores. $20 off 100 type deals.
Used to buy one every year just for the local sushi spot. Had a 20% off and was reusable. Would pay for itself our first night out.
That said at the time I lived in a different state and it was so long ago. Think my nephew's soccer team sold these as a fund raiser.
So old school SD shout out to the poster. I think you can see what restaurants etc participate in your area. Just an FYI.

New members only. If you have previously held a Costco membership, your membership must be must be expired for 18 months or more for you to qualify for this deal.

That said, it is the best offer for Costco membership for "new" members because unlike most (except the UPSchoice), the $30 gift card is for either Costco membership level. As for shady, most of the membership signups require renewal signup. That that be changed/turned off right afterwards.
FWIW, I can see the offer for UPSChoice and it is the same with same terms, ending date, etc.. so if you don't see the value for the book in your area for $9 (easy call for me as I save that on just one visit to local place that doesn't have coupons outside of entertainment.com), then UPSChoice is a valid option. Others posted so far only give you the $30 for the higher level $120 version or reduce the free gift card amount.
