My take - Great cheap 1080p action camera. Yes, it's not 4k so video/picture quality might be not as good as the 4k ones, but you get Gopro build quality with knock-off brand price.
I don't think for $90 you can get a similar quality camera even when you look at knock-off brand ones (even for image quality).

But, it's an action cam, so I would say that's kinda beside the point. It's small, compact and durable so I would attach it to the helmet, car, bike, or somewhere I might not be comfortable attaching phone to.

what gopro worth the investment?
I do like GoPro 8's Costco bundle but I think Costco depleted their stock. My local one did not go all the way down to 279.99 or 269.99? (I don't remember the price) listed on the slick deal. (so I got DJI Osmo Action, I already had Hero 7 Black and owned session 4 before) GoPro 8's quality is better than 7 for sure, but I wouldn't say it's go sell your Hero 7 Black and get GoPro 8 level better.
Obviously, Go Pro 9 is good. But I always avoid the newest GoPro until their firmware and stuff are sorted out. In fact, I usually wait until the next generation is announced and snatch a discount.
