When Can I Sign Up for the Benefit?

What is the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program?

The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program is aFederal Communications Commission (FCC) programthat provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households. If your household iseligible, you can receive:

A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)

Only one monthly service discount and one device discount is allowed per household.
The FCC expects enrollment for the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program to open later this month. It will end when the fund runs out of money, or six months after the Department of Health and Human Services declares an end to the COVID-19 health emergency, whichever is sooner.

Anybody know how this affects the promotional rate I'm currently paying on my service?

I.e - service is $75, but only paying $55 due to 12 month $20 monthly credit. With $50 off, would I only pay $5 a month? or $25?

Also, it looks like you potentially don't get the full $50 depending on the provider. Looking up AT&T (which I have), they will only discount internet service by $9.25. Or is this a previous version of it and this site just isn't updated to indicate the full $50?

It's a different service. You can receive both lifeline and EBB on separate service providers. AT&T is being a snail dragging its feet to start the EBB program. They said it would be tomorrow.

if im not qualified but my dad does, can they sign up even though im the one paying the bill?

If you're in the same household then yes you can enter his information. There's an option during the application for this, if someone in your household qualifies but you don't. It's per household not per person.

Does disability count as ssi on the check your eligibility site? Or would I have to choose qualify by income
No. Title II (SSDI/SSR) is not the same as SSI (Title XVI). Do you receive Medicaid/Medi-Cal? Food Stamps?

Yeah well apparently T-mobile decided to participate in this program and make it eligible for a lot of their cellphone plans (even small business plans) with the one small exception of their Home Internet service.

Riddle me that, a $50 monthly internet credit from the FCC and they decide to make it available on a bunch of their cellphone services expect for their Home Internet service, how convenient T-mobile

You might not need to upload anything. They were able to verify me without uploading documents and I receive snap benefits. But probably your snap card if they ask for it.

This is pathetic. Yes, let's get ISPs deeper into bed with the government. Yay! $50 bucks so they can coerce providers do their dirty work for them. i.e. Government (at least on paper) has to respect privacy. Private companies don't because we sign the effin TOS.

If I already get free cell usage from Lifeline, can I also get the $50 monthly internet discount? Or is it one or the other, but not both?

If you're eligible for Lifeline, you're automatically eligible for this, and yes, you can get both at the same time.

Trying to get this for my parents. Uploaded their tax return that I just prepared a few days ago. Stuck at pending review for about 15 minutes now. My guess is they went home for the day and will start back in the morning. It looks like they should qualify.
