Just read a article about the EBB program, will be going to effect on May 12th.
https://www.fcc.gov/broadbandbenefit

When Can I Sign Up for the Benefit?

As of May 12, 2021, eligible households will be able to enroll in the program to receive a monthly discount off the cost of broadband service from an approved provider. Eligible households can enroll through an approved provider or by visitinghttps://getemergencybroadband.org.

What is the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program?

The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program is aFederal Communications Commission (FCC) programthat provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households. If your household iseligible, you can receive:

Up to a $50/month discount on your broadband service and associated equipment rentals

Up to a $75/month discount if your household is on qualifying Tribal lands

A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)

Only one monthly service discount and one device discount is allowed per household.
The FCC expects enrollment for the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program to open later this month. It will end when the fund runs out of money, or six months after the Department of Health and Human Services declares an end to the COVID-19 health emergency, whichever is sooner.

Update for anyone with Frontier: just called them and they confirmed that the 500/500 fiber optic internet plan will also qualify for the EBB discount, starting June 10! Right now its only their 50/50 plan that qualifies. I'd totally given up, but will see if this one comes through Smilie
Were you able to sign-up for the EBB discount on the 10th?
Did you get any kind of confirmation from Frontier that its has been applied to your account?

My experience with Verizon is disappointing, but not surprising.
I just checked this month's bill and the EBB discount is of course not there.

Verizon is making it difficult for their existing customers to claim the benefit.
Got to call CS again and wait 2+ hours on hold to speak to an EBB specialist.
F***k You Verizon!

Has anyone been able to use the $100 laptop/tablet/desktop discount? Too bad iPad is too expensive to qualify for this offer.

I signed up a relative for the EBB, Xfinity, the $50 off is reflective on the current bill.

I would like to use the tablet discount. Must I buy from my carrier, or can I buy on Amazon Prime Day. My memory is the tablet must cost between $100 and $150. Is this correct? TY!

Very good question . It does appear has to be between $100 and $150 . Not sure if it can be used on two different companies ? I was not able to apply to PC for people's site . Said already used discount but that was for internet and my internet provider doesn't sell PC's.

According to the latest USAC EBB confirmation email:

"If you are interested in a connected device, click here [link removed] for a list of companies that offer connected devices. Not all companies participating in the program are offering connected devices. You will need to enroll with a company to receive your broadband AND device benefit."

So you must choose a company that provides both benefits.

Yes, and to be honest a cheap tablet isn't a big deal. Greenlight was great at making everything work fine. They don't sell PC's .

My Optimum bill reflected the $40EBB discount this month. Bill is now $4.96 a month for basic cable and internet. Let's see how long this lasts.

Hello my fellow cheap skates,

My $50 credit applied to my spectrum internet account today and it is $0.00. Make sure they put the application ID on the application your service provider completes. I believe that is why it was difficult to verify my info when they submitted it the first time. Cheap skate rejoice.

Same here. I checked my account it reflected today and my balance is $0.00. Hopefully the discount reflects for awhile.

does this EBB benefit apply to only mobile service discount or internet? I got EBB mobile discount from Assurance, with a LifeLine application ID. My Internet is Fios, and I applied for EBB discount on Fios last month. Today I called Verizon to check its status. Verizon just told me that the EBB applies only to either mobile or landline internet, not both, and to get Fios discount, I need to revert the mobile discount somehow, and apply for Fios discount again. is this true?

Yes, it's true. You can only use the EBB on one of the two. You could apply Lifeline (if you qualify for that too) to your cell service and the EBB to internet I think.

thanks. I already had a lifeline application ID, then Verizon told me I can't apply for EBB because of that. Sounds to me I need to cancel lifeline application which was already approved, then apply for EBB for Fios. It is confusing.

I was told if you already qualify for Lifeline that you should qualify for EBB in an email reply almost a month after sending it when I couldn't reach anyone on the phone when calling the Lifeline/EBB number on the application site. It is confusing.
