If I didn't have my disabled veteran money to supplement my income I would not be able to do it. Not sure if these people commenting actually know what teachers make. (I'm in Texas, state makes a difference)
Teacher pay is garbage. I am getting my masters and moving into administration. More money, half the work, gonna be great.
Most teachers choose to spread their paychecks out to be received over the summer, but they are technically only being paid for Sep-June.
Teachers have the option of simply receiving larger paychecks from Sep-June, and *not* getting any checks for July/August. But most choose to have their 10 paychecks divided into 12 paychecks for consistency/simplicity.

Source: My wife is a teacher in a right to work state.
CNN only tells you what they want you to know.
If you are in a liberal state where your teachers don't work or aren't held accountable, then why don't you guys vote in some changes?
People having problems sound like their own doing. Texas teachers have been working all year, taking kids back, and keeping the economy open so that Texas could open back up. Even when we did remote after spring break it was hell. No teachers want to do remote. In person is 10000x easier, and I wish I didn't have to teach remote learners.

Even if you give the kids some low effort group project (that everyone hates), you still have to be monitoring them to keep them from killing each other. Meanwhile, I work 35 hours a week (1hour unpaid lunch each day), and slack off for at least 2-3 hours a day.
Teachers are part of a group of people who go through a whole load of crap and get paid crap at the beginning.
Very, very few of you complaining on here would be able to do so if it were not for the civil servants in our country.
The fact that you can read or write is thanks to teachers. Yes, I know that some of you were home schooled. But that's only a very few.
So instead of bashing teachers, how about you give just a little thanks for that fact that, even though you sound like you're stupid, you have been educated enough to be able to read these forums and have enough knowledge to form some sort of coherent sentences.

I'm not a teacher but a parent of 3, after seeing how hard it is for my kids' teachers, I can't imagine why anyone would want to do that to themselves. They've certainly had to work harder throughout all of this, and I've seen quite a few of them retire early during the course of the past year, with their schools having difficulty replacing them. If a teaching job was such an easy, slam dunk - why are they having a hard time lining people up as replacements?
But most teachers bust their butt and do what they can with a system that is broken.
Most complaints on here are not due to the teachers they're due to a system that has failed them and our society.

You should be grateful some community is willing to pay you $50k/year for what a teacher does. Most babysitters get a lot less -- and no benefits.
