I don't have this sander myself, but I do have the rest of their 20V tools (drill, Sawzall, impact driver, circular saw, etc) and they have held up well. Porter Cable is one if the better homeowner power tool brands. Normally it is considered between consumer and professional level. For frequent home project, the brand should last for many years.

Thats my experience as well. My dad has beat them up over and over again and they keep going.

ordered one then quickly realized the battery situation would be a headache and would double, triple the price. cancelled order and got the best seller corded one on amazon

Porter cables been around for over a century and will be around for atleast a mother decade. Unless Stanley-black and decker decide to kill it. Even if they do the B&D batteries work on it.

A few years ago Lowes was clearing out 20v Porter batteries for around ten bucks - I bought around 10 - I now have the drill - driver - nailer and now the sander. I as a rank amatuer - highly recommend - these products.
