If you want to game, it's better to spend the extra $50 on the $600 HP that Walmart has.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Pav.../943933730

They are a Ryzen 3500 (6-core) with a GTS 1650 Super. A 1650 Super is roughly twice the graphical performance of a 5700G.

https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...5260vs4058

It looks like Walmart's website sells out of these very quickly and only 3rd party sellers are listed there. But if you can find them at your local store they are sold for $599.

This is why it's called a desktop.

Tell your mom to stay off the porn sites, they're known to have malware.

HP only allows XMP to run if you buy your sticks from them (and they are really overpriced), anything else is forced to run at 2133, apparently they whitelist which RAM modules allow XMP. This is my experience on an HP Ryzen Omen 25L from another deal.
The BIOS is extremely limited (you can't manually adjust timings/frequency or anything). However, one workaround is to use Ryzen Master, which will let you apply new RAM settings. Might be worth giving a try.
I just happened upon the first review of some HyperX Fury RAM on Amazon where a guy tells you how to get around that with Intel's XTU program from their site, and you can "tune" it so that it allows the XMP.

Since this is AMD though, not sure if that Ryzen Master would allow the same thing or not.

What I don't get is if you are gonna put it a top of a line cpu why limit the memory to 32gb? Why not already allow for up to 64gb?
Do we actually know if it is maxed at 32 or just the assumption since it came with a single 16 gb stick and only 2 slots?

Yeah but max it's gonna do using hdmi port is 1920x1080 (1080P)....it won't show true 4k resolutions but it will downscale. Not that I'd notice since I typically don't save movies at anything higher than 1080p from ota due to file size.
It's the real deal, under display information it shows the full 4k resolution at 59.94 hz. It doesn't look any different than my other desktop with a discrete gpu using display port at the same resolution.

^^^ What odragon said.
2 x 32GB RAM configuration may work. But HP may not want to advertise or support it for some reason. Or it may indeed not work and be a limit set in BIOS. Do we know for sure that the CPU supports more than 32GB of RAM? I don't see that info on AMD site.

Rep'd. Totally my assumption. Crucial's memory matcher DOES offer 32gb sticks for THIS model. https://www.crucial.com/compatibl...-tp01-2066

You can still pick up a Dell 400sc for a lot less than $299 if that is what you consider the good ole days.

Given I have mine from 15+ years ago I'd say I'm ready to upgrade. The point was the expansion potential that server offered.

It is sort of funny that going to 64gb is almost the same price as the rest of the computer.

They may have been restocking. I could swear my area was all out a few days ago. But now I see several stores with stock. The nearest one to me had stock this morning but now doesn't. So people are actively buying them.

What about The Sims 4 and a few of the expansion packs? My wife's older desktop is starting to have issues but it has a discrete card in it, a AMD Radeon R9 360 2GB DDR5, with 8gb of RAM & the processor is a AMD A10-7800.

Any insight you can provide would be appreciated. I've done some Googling and it looks like it could run it alright, but just wanted to see what some people thought.
If this one has a slot for the R9 it's probably fine. That A10 is ancient.

You're not lying...but by the time I do THAT upgrade it will be alot cheaper. Well 1/2 the computer anyway.....$600 for pc and 64gb of memory is $345 for crucial...might be cheaper for noname. (it is... $290 for TEAMGROUP dual channel matched pair)

I would REALLY like you to be right....however I don't think you are based on a previous poster saying this has hdmi v1.2 and the information on the web page below which states:

HDMI Versions
There are multiple versions of the HDMI standard, which include:

1.0 - 1.2a: The very first iteration of HDMI was made available in 2001, and it had a bandwidth of 3.96 Gbps. This allowed 1080p video feeds to be transmitted at 60 Hz. Version 1.1 maintained the same specifications but with the added support of DVD Audio. HDMI 1.2 and 1.2a added support for One Bit Audio and fully specified Consumer Electronic Control(CEC).

I don't have this computer, but if a user says he's getting 4k @ 60hz that's hard to dispute.

The motherboard specs [hp.com] say it's hdmi 1.4b - 1.4b is supposedly only capable of 4k @ up to 30hz. However, I have an HP laptop that says it is hdmi 1.4b but supports 4k @ 60hz as well. If someone says they can do it, I believe them.

I consider everything you said good news because as I indicated I really want to be wrong. I'd love to see 4k out of it. I'm picking up mine tomorrow and will have to look into it. Hmm only 4k content I've got to play is on blu-ray....this only comes with a dvd writer right? Is it a normal size dvd writer cause I'd love to move my blu-ray from my existing hp desktop to it.

Yea I'm not sure why it works but here's a screenshot. I can watch youtube 4k 60hz no problem. I know It's not secretly doing 30 fps either as the difference is very noticable.
