The catch is that unless you plan on packing ramen noodles and a water kettle in your suitcase,, expect to pay an arm and a leg for any food or drinks beyond included breakfast and happy hour.

The way this deal is structured pretty much makes it a no brainer to opt for the full board package, since it includes lunch, dinner, and the expensive transfers. Things are very expensive when you are trapped on a private island, full board is definitely the way to go.

I've been to the Rangali island Hilton property - we had diamond status so got free breakfast but averaged $100-$300 a day for food depending on if we ate at the bar vs restaurant. We stayed 10 days - our absolute favorite vacation. From SLC took 47 hours to get there with layovers and overnight stay in Male before sea plane

At the time beach villas were 50k points a night

Cool story - staff went on strike while we were there and it was chaotic for 2 days but we got an over the water bungalow for the rest of our stay for the trouble

Also airlines lost luggage so I ended up buying a $200 swimsuit at the gift shop so I could go swimming

To get to the island you need to pay for seaplane at $500-$700 per person
Not if you get the full inclusive per the desc.

That's honestly what I ate when I was in the maldives in nov 19. Actually worked great 😂 - I packed a ton of food and ate out sparingly! It's over the top spendy.

If you are looking for a private getaway, look elsewhere. You'll be hearing everything your neighbor does and says at this resort. See the picture below:

so to summarize

Quote from Loltrek View quoted comment :
Any catch?
- full board seems logical given the price/hassle of transfers, food, etc., so it's $1400, not $400
- it doesn't include flights, which from DC look to be at least a grand per person
- 5 nights is nothing for that long of a trip (if domestic US), $80/n night extra. something like two weeks seems appropriate

bringing the $399 deal to $4120 (for two)

I have no idea how this compares to a usual trip out there, this could still be slick, but the $399 resort stay definitely seems a bit headline-grabby

I did too.. I'm still trying to decide if I cancel or not - I plan to maybe bring 2 kids - looks like instead of adding kids - better off buy another package, it's costly per kids.

If I purchase the full board package, I don't have to worry about anything other than international flight? Also do I pay extra for 3 yrs old child?
Yes, because children need food too and they whine and complain when couped up for long periods of time. They also won't thank you later in life too, for taking them to the Maldives.

It's your trip best send them to grandparents house for the week. They'll enjoy that just as much as the sunsets on instagram island. They may also resent you for not waiting until they were old enough to enjoy the experience for themselves.

Nothing says you're loved like a photo of you as a toddler at an exotic location, theme park or other great place when you're 20; and wish you had the money to go some place cool.

Looking at TripAdvisor, it looks like you get what you pay for with this deal. You get a resort under construction with mediocre food / service and a lousy beach. I certainly would not fly all the way to the other side of the world to stay here, but to each his own.
