They got a pretty nice, quad dac in here, with amplification to drive some pretty powerful headphones that other devices or bluetooth wouldn't be able to.
Dual screen is a nice extra, I do use it much more than I expected to - it's nice to have completely separate screens for multitasking and watching videos.
Finally, the battery is incredible. It's advertised to have a 4000mah battery, but the most interesting thing was that when I first bought it (over a year ago), my accubattery app showed a 4500mah battery estimate. Basically, the battery was larger than advertised, and it definitely showed in longevity. Even today, an entire year later, I'm at 4200mah effective capacity, and can go 2 days of pretty regular use without even thinking about recharging.
Downsides? Not much for this phone alone - it does everything I need, from music, to apps, to games, to just browsing the web.
THAT SAID: there's one thing to keep in mind about this phone - these days you can get the LG V60 thinq, basically the successor to this phone, with the dual screen accessory, for around $400. The deals for the V60 may be fewer and further between, but I've seen it at costco for $400 with the dual screen, and it took all of my willpower to not buy it then and there. Wait a bit, and you'll have a chance to get what's basically an upgrade in every way over the G8x, for around the same price. Not like they supported their phones before.

Dual screen is sometimes handy (i worked on it using remote desktop with keyboard on the other screen or played games and browsed at the same time) but it is more trouble than benefit - you need charging adapter that often unsticks, thick phone that won't fit into car phone holder, akward back camera and flashlight.
Somehow mine got very scratched up, after 3 months it had more scratches than my old V30 after 3 years. Screen protector only lasts a week, I'm going to keep my second cracked one on for a while since it still protects against scratches.
Microphone picks up all the noises in the room. People on a call can hear flys sneezing 15ft away from me.
Without the case (and you may need to get the phone out of dual screen case to charge it with regular usb-c cable) the phone is super slippery - tiniest incline or the cord weight will pull it off the desk.
The back panel vibrates when speaker plays music - not noticeable with a case, feels very flimsy without the case.
It restarts by itself, but it can be due to drops without the case. There is a good chance it won't be covered by the warranty.
There were some updates in the last week so it looks like LG does at least some support.
