I think a rule of thumb is if it has two people figures then it's the quality set (german steel) and if it has the one person figure it's cheap chinese steel.

There are German steel knives made in China. So you have to be careful out there. These are actually manufactured in Germany. I think it's true about the 2 guys on emblem. The brothers. The cheap ones are international edition. I had one and had to return it after a month of use.

I have the swilling Pro model, non S, and they are very good knives. The non S model fits in the hand a little better because of the way it's formed into the handle. At this price I would get it if I didn't have them already.

Been doing too much research on Zwilling knifes recently.. The twin signature line is stamped knives whereas the Pro and 4 star lines are forged. The 4 star and pro/pro s lines are better knifes and are priced to reflect that.
I am not sure the difference between the 4 star and pro other than the handles.
I just bought a 4 star block set from Cutlery and more for ~$400

Stop promising because you're wrong. These are VERY nice knives for home/restaurant use.

These have a carbon steel/alloy blade, giving you better edge retention than stainless, but they avoid the patina issues with carbon steel. This means you won't have to hone them with every use. These are going to be hand-wash knives only- no dishwashers or harsh detergents.

I would recommend this set at this price!

I just bought a 4 star block set from Cutlery and more for ~$400
It has to do with the handle construction, place of manufacture, and blade alloy. The 4 star is their top of the line original designs...something you would buy if you have a pro kitchen or if you want to use the same knives the rest of your life. Honestly the Pro...especially at this price...gives you the best bang for the buck. Wusthof, JA H, and more recently Global will always do you right in the $100-$200 price range.
