Most of Sam's club sales are on a set of 4. Not that that isn't what most people will be buying, but for those who only need 2, Sam's isn't offering much.

Always had bad luck with Pirelli tires. It seemed even if I hit a decent pothole they were blowing. Guarded that was 20 years ago now, so who knows if the quality got any better but just my take. Yokohoma tires always seemed to do the trick for me though.

Suppose if NY actually fixed roads right and bothered to fill potholes properly I may not have had as many issues. Alas, all they do is takes our money and leave us with busted tires, rims, and windshields 🤣

I can totally vouch...Pirelli tires that came with my 2016 car didn't even last 17,000 miles. And i don't drive aggressive at all. Complete garbage... I'll never buy those. I also had a brand new car in 2008 that came with them, hit a pot hole on the freeway and it blew the side out going 65mph... there was less than 1000 miles on that car. Never again!

I recently drove from NY to NJ to buy a laptop at Micro Center. Right at the state border you could see the difference. NY has no excuse for such bad roads that even NJ is amazing by comparision

As for tires, there is a warning about shortages so it might be a good time to buy

Any here able to change their own tires? Is there a harbor freight tool that would work, or are you stuck going to a shop to mount them no matter what?

Same, I've sadly had to shoo away Pirelli options due to not just the poor quality of their tires, but the utter lack of responses to emails, texts, phone calls and tweets to try to resolve the problem.

Great deal of work. I have access to a tire changer machine and till pay a shop to change. Also if you do yourself, you'll also need to get a balancer?

We have a tire changer and yes, HF sells a cheap manual one, but I don't do the modern with the pressure sensor and by the time I have balanced, I just take to the professionals. Heck, if not on a Sunday or when closed, I take everything to them that is not an emergency. Some places have lifetime balance and even lifetime alignments, that I have found to be beneficial most of the time.

Pirelli is a soft tire for traction, that like most, including GoodYear Eagles, are not mileage tires. In fact, if you don't wear them out kind of quickly, like the GY Eagles, they will dry rot from the inside out and hence, the blowouts from pot holes... or start developing leaks.

Putting Pirelli on say, a Honda Civic is a waste of money... the tire will be internally worn out long before the actual tread is.

For performance tires, we switched several years ago to Continental that came standard on performance BMW's and never looked back.... Michelin, a harder tire is ok.... but pricey, they don't have the traction. If you are on dry pavement with a lot of road time, Michelin is a good choice for mile longevity.

Left NYC 5 years ago and realized I should have left a long long time ago, live in Vegas and LA, and LA is a bargain compared to NYC, Vegas has the best roads, never had a tire puncture ever, in NYC I get a tire puncture 2 to 3 times a year, worst was a bullet casing inside a tire, I don't know how it got inside the tire, NYC is not a place for middle income or high middle income , they will tax you for all and put it into silly rhings

Yes. I change my own tires with a modified HF tire changing stand using a No-Mar bar. It's cost savings to me due to the volume of motorcycle tires I go through... Occasionally I'll do my car tires. BUT you still have to balance them AND dispose of the old tires.

For 95% of people, no it is not worth buying the tools and doing it yourself!

Keep in mind that Pirelli, like all tire brands, make different tires for different applications and different price points. I had a car that came with extreme-performance Bridgestone tires that lasted 14k miles ... the slightly harder high-performance all-season Bridgestone tires I put on afterwards lasted 40k mi with ease.

I've had Pirelli truck tires in the past and they were fine. I use almost exclusively Pirelli motorcycle tires (mostly race slicks)

Agreed. You can't just compare Pirelli as a whole to another manufacturer or just say they all stink. You have to get down to the individual tire model. It also depends on the vehicle. Some vehicles are hard on tires. Not to mention driving style and road conditions.

I have Pirelli All Season Verde Plus II currently and they are great so far. 31,500 miles and climbing. Still quiet, still good wet and dry.

The vehicle came new with Michelin tires, I forget the model, and those wore out quickly and became noisy at about 15,000 miles. I don't blame Michelin as a whole but I do blame that particular Michelin tire on that vehicle.

You really need to do your homework to determine the best tires for your vehicle. So many of us buy the wrong tires for the vehicle and then blame the manufacturer. At least I know that I learned this the hard way.
