Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose
Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.
For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

Fantastic, thank you for all the detail. Stoked to do this tomorrow. My wife's been lamenting at the fact that she got a green iPhone 12 last fall and now they came out with a purple one. Will be a great present for her.

Your trading in an iphone 8 or galaxy S9 that is under $200 and keeping or selling your $400+ iphone 12, right?

Trading in the free A71 5G I got with T-Mobile's free line promo a few months back. Will pay off and sell her green iPhone 12 and reap the remaining monthly credits (she traded in an old iPhone XR for it back in November).

By no screen damage does that mean scratches too? I have an iPhone X with lots of scratches but no cracks 😂
Don't know if it would be worth having the screen replaced or not

I called Boost in store and they said you have to activate to buy it.
You can buy it online but doubt it would get here this weekend.
This Boost in-store option might not be bad. Looks like the $10 and $15 plans are for BYOD so even if you have to do the $25 plan, $175 + tax for a iPhone 8 that you'll know is pristine that will qualify for the trade-in ain't a bad option. Beats having to deal with flaky sellers on CL/Offerup/FB Marketplace. Seems to be in line with the best prices on Swappa also.

Did you have to give the rep the imei number of the iphone 8 too? I'm going to buy one, and it won't be here soon. Thanks
You will need the IMEI number of trade-in device when you do the promotion.

Anyone know how many times I can take advantage of that offer. Is it per account or per line. I have 10 lines on my account.
Supposedly 4 max per account per offer (from another T-Mobile deal thread). Edit: max 2 per account according to everyone posting here.

Is your A71 paid off? If not you won't be able to trade it in without paying it off first.

It's not, but I will pay it off prior to setting up the promo.

I'm wondering if any users of the Pro models can advise on the lidar-scanner functionality. I'm interested in determining if the price differential ($170) could be justified by the room scanning functionality. I'd like to gain access to the Canvas functionality promised, but would be interested in hearing about other users' experiences to determine if this is something that could justify the incremental spend.

Good luck!
Jon
Lidar is of no value right now. But compare both phones with same storage. iPhone 12 is 879 for 128gb so the difference is $120. Pro has slightly better camera and brighter screen. Build quality depends on if you like Aluminum it stainless steel.

I've got a 12Pro, had the 11Pro before, and the X before that, and just about every iPhone model since the very first one on day one. And I'm a "pro" user, i.e. I know all the features and use all the features. I don't know wtf the lidar is for...I just don't think there are any real world uses of it currently. There may be stuff down the line, but I wouldn't buy the Pro just for that. The difference between the two phones is basically the 3rd 2x zoom lens, and double the base storage on the 12Pro vs the 12.
One current use of their Lidar is supposed to help with depth detection for portrait mode "aka bokeh" photos, particularly in low light situations. There are reviews out there for how much it helps. Not a deal breaker I would say.

4gb vs 6gb RAM. And slightly heavier due to stainless steel vs aluminum finish.
